Lots to say about this…
Auditioned on a whim, and my anxious brain told me to prepare a Cher impression the night before (I ignored it, and I was, in fact, asked for one). Got a callback for the ensemble (only), and told myself to prepare the Georgia/Lucille sides anyway, and… Star? Nah. Did my Cher impression (“Welcome To Burlesque,” a capella, I forgot half the words), was asked to read for Georgia/Lucille and there were rumors of Star sides that never materialized. Got the offer to cover BOTH and studied really hard for two months (and tried to get abs?) so I could come in off-book (and with abs?), and I did (mostly).
It seems like I’ve wanted to take a working photo in this hallway for YEARS and I’m so proud that I finally got to. I’m proud of the work I put in before rehearsal. I’m proud of how our team was able to put a show together with ten days of rehearsal. I feel like I overcame a good chunk of my anxiety when I was there, even though everything about the process should’ve done the opposite. I chose to frame my track from a place of opportunity, rather than fear, or maybe taking to heart a line from the show: “It’s about being sh*t-scared and doing it anyway.”
I knew that understudying and meant I would never go on in an 11-day run, but I had such big shoes to fill and I tried my very best to practice my best strut from a distance.
I am very grateful to have done this, with this team, and I am also grateful for puzzles, knee pads, and backstage hot dogs.

Took myself on my first-ever vacation, a month in Europe (with the help of )
Started drinking less, started going to therapy
Was unemployed for a while but now I’m not
