Northampton Community College Lineworker Program

Yesterday, we proudly welcomed our Spring/Summer 2026 class! Eleven future lineworkers have begun their journey, and we can't wait to watch them grow over the next 12 weeks. Time is sure to fly by!

It was also a special day as Senior Lineworker Instructional Manager Rick officially kicked off his first day with the program. We're excited to have him on board and look forward to a great class ahead!

Our students are about to learn from someone with decades of real-world utility experience, leadership expertise, and a passion for developing the next generation of lineworkers.

Throughout his career, Rick has led crews and managed operations across the PECO, PPL, and Met-Ed systems, serving as a General Foreman, Area Manager, and Foreman on major distribution, substation, commercial installation, and emergency response projects. From overseeing large-scale utility work to coordinating storm restoration efforts, he has built an impressive career in the industry.

He holds multiple industry certifications, including NCSCB Medium Voltage Cable Splicer Certification, and is qualified in Pole Top Rescue, Bucket Rescue, First Aid, and CPR.

Beyond the job site, he has dedicated his time to mentoring others as a Splicing Trainer and serving in leadership roles with IBEW Local 126, helping strengthen the skilled workforce that powers our communities.

We are thrilled to have Rick join our program and can't wait for our students to benefit from his knowledge, experience, and commitment to the trade.

We’re excited to announce that we have selected our new full-time Instructional Manager!

Student registration will be this Wednesday, and we anticipate classes beginning on Monday, June 8. Once the onboarding process and required clearances are complete, we’ll be happy to introduce our new Instructional Manager and share additional details.

As you may have heard, we were not able to move forward with the Spring 2026 class due to the loss of our lead instructor.

After careful consideration, the college has restructured the role into a full-time position (40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year). This position is based at the college and includes a full benefits package—vacation, sick time, holidays, 403(b) contributions, health insurance, and more. The salary is also very competitive.

We are urgently seeking a Lead Lineworker Instructor to join our program! Due to the lack of a lead instructor, we had to delay the start of our Spring class — and we’re ready to get back on track as soon as possible.

This is an part-time position with the strong possibility of transitioning to full-time for the right candidate.

5 years Electrical Lineworker experience

A passion for teaching and mentoring
