MCDStudio celebrated our 10th Anniversary in July! It’s been an exciting journey, and we’re excited for what the next 10 years will bring! Well, tonight was an exciting night for us, our Backyard Retreat project with Ley Ltd. won an Award of Merit from AIA Potomac Valley​! This project is a great example of adaptive reuse at a residential scale. We converted an existing, detached garage into a home office/yoga studio.

The Washingtonpost just picked up our MacArthur Blvd. project as it's House of the Week!

D.C. house was midcentury modern before and after HOUSE OF THE WEEK | The developer says the original architecture was preserved in the renovation.

Kitchens seem have been at the forefront of our design ideas lately, maybe it’s because we’ve been cooking/reheating take-out nightly for the past 2 months? Regardless, here’s another kitchen from a recent project where we collaborated with and his company POUNDS. We love the how cabinets and appliances combine with the simple white counters and backsplash for a clean, modern aesthetic to fit with the houses mid-century modern design

Working from home lately seems to have us reverting back to our late night habits from our architecture school days....So for those night owls, here’s a few renderings of a new house we designed that’s just about ready to start construction in Bethesda, MD

Our design work will continue as we are a profession that has the ability to serve many of your needs remotely. We are utilizing technology to the fullest to move your project forward or discuss new ones.
For required on-site services, we will assess with you how to proceed and take appropriate precautions, such as social distancing for measurements or other on location requirements.
Work on current or new projects will continue in all aspects at this time. Local government approvals may take longer as they also handle this shift and we will continue to closely track every project currently under review for building permits on your behalf.
Spending more time in our homes may inspire you to make small or large changes. You may need consultation as simple as how to rearrange your home to incorporate work and living spaces now, or you may want to begin a larger renovation project for the future. We can support those needs and more.

Another crisp fall day in Bethesda had us dropping by this recently completed facade renovation to a single family home not too far from the office. We worked with the client and builder to replace the siding and trim and then painted the brick a lighter color to give this house a bit more curb appeal. - - - > swipe for the “before” photo
