Nazel repair
This casting had vibrated itself apart in January and needed to brazed back together. The hammer has been back up and running great for the last couple months but I figured I’d show off the process of several of the repairs we made.
The 1932 International Foundry Exhibition and Congress was held in Paris at the Parc des Expositions in September 1932. Organized by the General Union of Founders of France, the event served as a major interwar showcase for industrial innovation, metallurgy, and machine aesthetics.
The machine was a dominant trope of interwar modernism.

-Grilled cheese and Tapers-
It’s forge cooking Friday.
We are wrapping up a big batch of scrolls and the forge was the perfect temp for some grilled cheese and homemade tomato soup.
—3D Printer & Lathe—
We are constantly finding that the 3d printers excels at quickly making precise jigs and fixtures for the workshop.
This finial was designed in fusion 360 and then printed and cast in aluminum then the 3D print was inverted and reprinted to create this handy holder for facing the ends and drilling the holes.
It really cut down on set up time and we were able to print it in just about an hour while we were out testing another project!

-Large cast finial-
This has been a great experience embracing technology to allow truly customised items. We were able to design many iterations of finials and then crank them out of the 3d printer. Until everything was just right. Then get that molded and cast by our neighbors Madd Castings.
It was an easy push of a bottom to print more for extra batches when the need arose.
