From Survival to Strength

96% of the survivors we served this year are asylum seekers – people who fled unimaginable danger in search of safety.

84.75% are young adults, rebuilding their lives while navigating a new country, new systems, and deep trauma.

Support for our programs makes healing possible through trauma- informed therapy, case management, system navigation, and community connection.

Out of 218 clients served in 2025, 177 were survivors of torture seeking safety, stability, and healing.

Support to our programs directly funds the life changing support – trauma informed mental health care, advocacy, and community connection – that helps survivors rebuild.

This year, survivors spoke over 18 primary languages, with the most common including:
Spanish- 52.54%
Indigenous Mam- 7.34%
Tigrinya- 22.03%

Rebuilding Life in a New Country

This year, 67% of the survivors we served had lived in the U.S. for less than 5 years –still working to create stability, learn new systems, and heal from the past.

Support for our programs ensures that every survivor –whether newly arrived or still finding their footing– receives the care, community and stability they need to rebuild their lives.

When survivors arrive at PTR, they tell us what they need most. This year their top goals were:

Behavioral health care – 46 clients
Education & employment readiness – 44 clients
Interpersonal and social support – 33 clients
Legal pathways to safety – 29 clients
Physical/medical care – 26 clients

Support to our programs ensures that survivors can access the full range of healing services they need to move forward with strength.

PTR is hosting a Winter Essentials & Food Drive to support trauma survivors and their families during the winter months.

We are accepting unopened food items, toiletries, and clean, gently used winter clothing for children and adults. All donations go directly to our clients based on immediate needs.

45.14% were between 18–44
34.29% were between 5–17
16.57% were under 5
