I am teaching a class on the Gift of Work. It starts tomorrow online for six weeks-just an hour a day (inching towards using work as a pathway for transformation).
In putting together my presentation, I was astounded on the stats on work burn out:
High Prevalence of Burnout: According to a 2022 Gallup report, 76% of employees experience burnout at least sometimes, with 28% reporting feeling burned out "very often" or "always" at work.
Burnout and Job Satisfaction: A 2021 survey by Indeed revealed that 52% of workers feel burned out, a notable increase from 43% in 2020, largely attributed to pandemic-related stressors and shifting work environments.
Burnout Across Generations: Millennials (ages 25-40) report the highest levels of burnout, with 59% affected, followed by Gen Z at 58%, according to a 2020 Deloitte survey. Baby Boomers report a lower burnout rate at 31%.
Remote Work Impact: Remote workers report burnout at higher rates. A survey from FlexJobs found that 75% of remote workers experienced burnout, with 40% attributing it to working remotely since the pandemic.
Impact on Mental Health: The American Psychological Association (APA) reports that burnout has worsened employee mental health, with 79% of workers experiencing work-related stress leading to anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues.
Burnout and Productivity: The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) reports that employee burnout costs the global economy $322 billion annually in turnover and lost productivity.

What is the Opposite of Hate? -

Just participated in a White House event in Washington, DC. Feeling incredibly privileged to be part of this interfaith conversation with the Second Gentleman and Ambassador Husein, Ambassador on International Religious Freedom and Steve Benjamin, Assistant to our President. As the President of the International Buddhist Association of America, I was proud to represent the Buddhist voice among interfaith leaders from Bahá'í, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Catholicism, Sikhism, Hinduism, and many more.
It was a profound experience to sit together and reflect on how we can work within our communities to combat hate. Although I have rarely encountered hate in my life, I believe, more than ever, that unity and understanding are essential. As the Second Gentleman emphasized repeatedly, coming together in this way is one of the most complete expressions of our humanity.
I'm sitting next to the Director of National Bahai association and we've already started talking about how we can work together!

May we have a higher purpose of coming together with all these great wisdom traditions for the benefit of all beings (not radicalizing and hating others but trying our best to heal the divide❤)
