It’s been a rough 2026 for me trying to help my mom get well, and I’ve been grateful to all the nurses, therapists, friends, family and doctors who have helped her along the way. So my posts have been a bit sparse (sorry!). Today I managed to take a couple hours to finish a paper anemone. It’s not perfect yet and I still need to refine things. But for now this is my little piece of heaven to escape to! What is your comfort go-to? Tell me in the comments 👇🏻😊

With Iris Haze, I explored a more sculptural, impressionistic approach to paper flowers. Rather than seeking to replicate every detail I wanted to create an expressive arrangement that could hang on the wall. My inspirations were purple-tinged clouds at sunset and modern florist takes on the bearded Iris, pairing light and dark shades side-by-side for drama.

Flowers were formed with vintage American Dennison crepe paper, handpainted Chinese xuan papers and modern European crepe papers. Paint was a mix of watercolor and traditional Chinese ink pigments.

Title: Morsels: Tiny Bites of Delectable Art

Dates: Saturday March 28 - Sunday April 26, 2026

Opening Reception: Saturday, March 28th, 2026, 4-6pm

Show Description: ACCI Gallery is thrilled to announce a new exhibition that will celebrate the visual and conceptual language of food through works measuring less than 12 inches in any direction—a true feast for the eyes in miniature. Food, in both its abundance and intimacy, has inspired generations of artists, from Dutch still life painters to contemporary conceptualists. This exhibit seeks to distill those big ideas into small formats: sculptures, paintings, jewelry, ceramics, and mixed media works. By focusing on “bite-sized” pieces, we invite both artists and viewers to engage with food in a playful, intimate way—reminiscent of amuse-bouches, petits fours, or treasured heirlooms that fit in the palm of a hand.

Tiger Eye explores a quiet meeting of East and West, realism and subtle organic distortion. Inspired by the real Tiger Eye Viola, the flower’s stems are elongated and its blooms multiplied, inspired by the flowing lines of traditional brush calligraphy and modern floristry.

Each petal begins with Chinese xuan paper, washed in watercolor and veined by hand with a tiny calligraphy brush using Chinese ink pigments. Reinforced with German crepe paper and structured with Japanese floral wire, the form balances delicacy and strength. This piece continues my exploration of cross-cultural materials. The mica-infused xuan reveals a subtle sparkle as the light shifts, rewarding close viewing.

An integrated hanging mechanism allows the work to float against the wall, reinforcing a floating, dreamlike presence.

Inspired by the memory of smelling ripe Mission figs during an evening walk, Figs at Dusk sets two deep purple figs against big wrinkly leaves. It’s a quiet fusion of Eastern and Western materials and techniques. I tried to evoke texture, imperfection, and the fleeting beauty of ripening fruit.
