Strange trip to Washington, DC this year. The bleeding disorders community made sure our representatives knew how cost effective it is to keep us healthy, but they need to see what’s going to be left to work with.

Presenting at the American Society of Hematology is a big deal. It makes me pump up to a higher level of professionalism and people notice. I love seeing the latest therapies, even though the majority of the meeting is dedicated to blood cancers. Almost all of the hemophilia treaters are there, but they are scattered amongst 20,000 other hematologists from around the world. There was a presentation with a heavy French accent on ITP. One of the questions from the audience gave him trouble answering. The pleasant guy in front of me went up to the microphone, explained the question in French, and the physician nodded and thanked him. Then he turned to the guy that asked the question and said “No”. Everyone chuckled.
