Join the Build Literacy Mentors in working with the youth in helping them with their reading skills! You can either be paid through work study, earn units, or join as a volunteer. The average time commitment is 5-10 hrs/week in the afternoons. Email [email protected] for more information or click our link in our bio for the application! Being in October marks the month’s celebration of Filipino American History Month (FAHM)! This is a celebration in the first Filipino arrivals to the US in 1587. However, FAHM began around 1992 but wasn’t nationally recognized until 2009 by Congress. We are also still in Hispanic Heritage Month until the 15th. So please spend some time appreciating immigrants to this country and the diversity in our spaces !

Since remote learning began, BUILD has been mentoring at 20 East Bay sites over Zoom. Mentors also created and shared 100+ read-aloud videos & 120 literacy lesson plans with families. Support BUILD in bringing stories home!
