Most of us don't want Louboutins, Lambos, or whatever the bro marketers are pushing now.
We want to buy groceries without looking at every line item, pay rent/mortgage, and put better shoes on our kids' feet.
The only way to get your business there is by understanding your audience… and the way to understand your audience is by looking at what your ideal clients are saying about offers like yours.
(Not by doing ideal client worksheets, which make the fatal mistake of keeping you in your own head.)
When you look at what your ideal clients are saying, you'll understand how to:
✅️ Position your offers as what your ideal clients are already seeking
✅️ Figure out the objections that prevent them from reaching out and how to counter them
✅️ Understand the messages your audience needs to hear to move towards "Yes!"
I show you how to do all this in my upcoming workshop, "Zigazig ah: Understanding what your clients really, really want to pay you for."
Swipe through above for more details, including social proof what I teach works…

As we approach the final weeks of the year, I want to give a HUGE shoutout to two mentors whose support I've felt day in, day out this year.
Running a one-woman business ain't easy--but it's a tiny bit easier when you have awesome mentors in your corner to give you their hard-earned advice and cheer you on.
First, I owe so much of the business I have to Betsy Muse . I started rebuilding my business with Betsy's guidance in early 2022, a few months before I became pregnant. (I am actually pregnant in that photo!)
The results I've seen this year in client work, speaking opportunities, and overall growth are directly from that work we did to make sure I built a business on solid foundations--meaning I did my customer research. :)
Second, I'm extremely grateful to Belinda Weaver for our weekly check-ins through her accountability program this year. When I saw the sales page a year ago, I knew this was for me--I love accountability and I knew I wanted the support as I entered 2024 with a baby.
Every week, Belinda's emailed me to make sure I'm setting realistic goals while juggling a full plate. Every tiny step I took with Belinda's energy behind me has added up, and I am so grateful for how our exchange kept me going--even when I couldn't always see that the path in front of me was heading where I wanted it to go.
(Turns out, it was, but there are moments where you can only see so far in advance as "run a sustainable business" isn't something you can put into Google maps).
Both these photos are from when Betsy and Belinda visited Berkeley and I gave them tours of the campus, where I used to work. Grateful for you both, and that we got to meet up--excited to see what happens in the future!

Hi friend, how are things going in your corner of the world?
As a fast-walking, fast-talking ex-New Yorker, fall usually has me rolling up my sleeves ready to dive into a new season. (Really, every season has me like that. Slow down, you say? Don't know her!)
This fall is a different though...
because I finished weaning my toddler a few weeks ago.
And boy. Someone should really warn you about the hormone change.
(If you don't know, weaning decreases the warm 'n snuggly hormones that help you bond with your baby as you nurse. The drop off in these hormones can lead post-partum depression and anxiety--which are not mindful, not cutesy, not demure.)
For me, the effect of weaning has been needing to move slower.
While slowing down isn't fun, the silver lining for me is that no one knows I'm doing this behind-the-scenes in my business.
Because, on the outside, my copy is always up and running:
✅ My messages are consistent across all my platforms so when visitors land, they know they're in the right place
✅ My website establishes my authority as a conversion copywriter with details about my research-based process and client success stories
✅ My email sequences are in place so that they're always working to nurture and sell for me
This doesn't mean I can just lie at the beach all day and expect sales to roll in. (Nor do I want to.)
But it does mean that if I need more self-care one afternoon, I can take a step back and do the journaling/yoga/breathing that lets me support my clients more sustainably.
My point, dear reader, is that you have more space to step back as needed when your copy is doing the heavy lifting of pulling in leads and nurturing them for you.
This is what I want for you--because I that know you, like me, have a lot going on.
If you need a hand in getting your copy into ship shape so that your business is maximally efficient even when you're not...
here's your invitation 💌 to join me at my next Copy Q&A, where I review your copy for free:
We'll be meeting next Thursday, 9/26 at 10:30 am PST | 1:30 pm EST | 7:30 pm CET.
You can show me any prepared piece of copy--a webpage, email, social post, or something in a Google doc.
You can also ask me any marketing question, as I'm good for everything except the intricacies of paid ads and SEO.
And if you can't make it live, send me your link to review and I'll be sure to pull it up at the end of the session. You can catch my feedback on the recording.
I do Copy Q&A because I know that each season of life brings its joys and challenges.
While I can't solve all the challenges you're facing this season...
I CAN make sure you have killer copy so that you have one less thing to worry about.
Because whatever season you're in, your copy should be driving leads and sales for you so you can celebrate or take a step back as needed.

What Taylor Swift has to do with your email deliverability 👇
It's all about reputation. 🐍
Let me explain:
You may have heard that email deliverability is changing.
Meaning that if you send emails as part of your business, this affects you.
(Yes, even if you have less than 5000 subscribers.)
*
Here's why you should pay attention:
First, and most importantly, you need to understand these changes aren't happening just because Google wants to be a pain in the ass.
They're happening because the amount of spam emails has multiplied since AI took off. Google wants to cut down on spam, which is good for us all.
What this means is you need to make sure your emails don't look like spam. And I don't mean spam by your definition...but by Google's definition.
Meaning you want to send emails out from your own domain and establish good reputation for that domain (see, it's all about reputation 🐍).
Good domain reputation helps you reach your audience's inboxes.
(This is what "email deliverability" refers to, btw. It's an email's ability to make it through Google's new spam filters and land in an inbox on the other side.)
*
All this brings me to my second point, which is that inboxes are about to be less crowded as emails from domains with poor reputation get filtered out.
That means that getting your emails in front of the right people gives you a higher chance of opens and engagements. (Because less emails = less competition = higher chance for your email to stand out.)
So many people are choosing to do nothing. Your competitors are likely choosing to do nothing.
This is your chance to get ahead of the crowd. Once you understand the changes to the email deliverability game, you can give your emails a better chance at landing in front of the right people.
*
So how do you ensure good domain reputation and therefore deliverability?
Technically, you just need to implement three little things call SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for emails that get sent from your domain. You can Google how to do this.
But what I did was learn how to do it from Cheryl Rerick, who worked with email deliverability experts to teach how to set up domain reputation best practices.
She did a free webinar on the changes and covers more details about them there. It's up until at least the end of this month and I recommend watching to get the full breakdown even if you want to implement the changes on your own after.
You can find my affiliate link in the comments below. (You can also find the non-affiliate yourself if you want.)
Either way, again, I recommend checking it out so you're more knowledgeable about how the email game is gonna go from now on.
The alternative is to do nothing and see what happens as you send marketing emails over the next few months...an option I suggest leaving to your competitors. 🙃

You can't "tips and tricks" your way into a robust business.
Not one that can weather the seasons.
To build a robust business, you need to deliver value time and again.
