Congratulations to everyone who got elected in the evening of April 8th! Congrats to everyone who ran! Even though I didn’t win this time, I feel proud to have been part of the 2022 elections as a freshman, and with such ambitious goals.

I want to thank for encouraging me to run for Senate. I want to thank for slating me and supporting me throughout the campaigning process. I want to thank , my deputy campaign manager, for her support and for staying by my side for the entirety of my campaign. I want to thank the rest of the Student Action* slate for accompanying me in this amazing journey. I want to thank my campaign team for helping me with my campaign. I want to thank all my friends who in my moments of desperation came to my rescue and started messaging others to vote for me. I want to thank my competitors for teaching me how to win the elections. It was a period of high personal development, and it wouldn’t have been like this without everyone I mentioned above.

It’s unfortunate that I failed to persuade others in believing, breathing and living for my vision of making The Berkeley Dynasty. I hope the elected officials learn to see beyond just the short-term problems that need patching, and pursue a grander vision that includes International Students and Social Entrepreneurship as part of the core (as opposed to the periphery).

Ryusei out.

I met Brandon Chan, President of *, in my second week as a freshman. After meeting with a multitude of Presidents and Coordinators from Business and Entrepreneurship-related clubs, Brandon Chan was certainly someone that stood out to me. He care very deeply about helping student entrepreneurs grow and excel. I believe actions, not titles, determine the value of a person.

Six months later, I met with him again to speak about a historic ASUC-Entrepreneurship partnership* to place Social Entrepreneurs at the core of our campus. I am humbled to have the opportunity and responsibility to make UC Berkeley* become the #1 place for Social Entrepreneurs with the endorsement and support of Brandon Chan.

Elif Sensurucu, ASUC Senator* and Co-President at Berkeley Entrepreneurs Association, invited me to join her team when I was a 3 weeks-old freshman. She mentored me and showed me ropes. After 3 months, I lead the organization of the first ASUC Startup Expo*, bringing 4 SkyDeck* startups.

I have grown so much since I first arrived to Berkeley*, in part thanks to Elif. Because she chose to believe in me; she had a hunch about my potential. Now that she is graduating, I want to continue and build on top of her legacy.

Elif Sensurucu, ASUC Senator* and Co-President of Berkeley Entrepreneurs Association, invited me to join her Senior Staff Team when I was a 3 week-old freshman. I remember getting lost and arriving 15 min late to our first Senior Staff meeting, because I had no idea where Engineers Student Service was. She mentored, and showed me the ropes. And 3 months later, I lead the organization of the first ASUC Startup Expo*, bringing 4 SkyDeck startups.

I owe much of my growth and success to Elif. She chose to believe in me (a freshman) because she had a hunch about my potential. I became her Director of International Affairs*. Now that she is graduating, I want to continue and build on top of her legacy. Make her feel proud.

After taking David Romps’* Introduction to Climate Change class, I am now even more committed to countering Climate Change and Global Warming. Positive feedbacks, feedbacks that amplify effects, can lead the Earth to spiral out into extreme, inhabitable temperatures. My mission is to preserve and improve our environment, by creating the conditions for students to come up with innovative sustainable solutions.

Thanks to everyone in the environmental and sustainability community at UC Berkeley* and other Universities for your input.

I decided to attend UC Berkeley* because of it’s unique intersection between a care for social issues and entrepreneurship, hence social entrepreneurship.

I have benefited a lot from the guidance of the social entrepreneurship community at Berkeley*, and I wish to expand that wisdom to the broader student body. My mission is to represent and support the social entrepreneurship community in ASUC.
