Job Title: Library Director Reports To: Library Board of Trustees
Location: Morgan County Public Library Employment Type: Part-Time 30 hours/wk
Job Summary:
The Library Director provides leadership and vision for the library, managing its daily operations, finances, staff, and programs. The director ensures compliance with library policies and state/federal regulations while fostering an inclusive and engaging environment for the community.
Leadership & Administration
Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance library services and programs.Oversee daily library operations, ensuring efficiency and a high level of customer service.Maintain and enforce library policies in compliance with state and federal laws.Represent the library to local government, community organizations, and stakeholders.
Financial Management
Develop and manage the library’s annual budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility.Seek funding opportunities, including grants, donations, and partnerships.Oversee purchasing and financial reporting to the governing board.
Staff & Volunteer Supervision
Recruit, train, and supervise library staff and volunteers.Foster professional development and training opportunities.Conduct performance evaluations and ensure adherence to HR policies.
Community Engagement & Outreach
Promote library services through outreach programs, social media, and public events.Collaborate with schools, businesses, and other community organizations.
Collection & Program Development
Oversee collection development, acquisitions, and technology integration.Plan and evaluate library programs to meet the needs of diverse patrons.Ensure accessibility and inclusivity in library services.
Facilities Management
Oversee library maintenance, security, and technology infrastructure.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience in library management or administration.Strong leadership, budgeting, and organizational skills.Excellent communication and public relations abilities.Knowledge of library technology, trends, and best practices.

Our Story
The Morgan County Public Library is one of only 2 libraries in the whole county. We are a very "user-friendly" library, with a good variety of current and old reading materials, fiction and non-fiction, as well as audiobooks on CD’s, a good selection of DVD’s movies, and music CD's, all available for checkout at no cost. We provide public access computers and wireless access, many free databases and learning sites (ABC mouse), meeting space with an available TV, DVD player call for availability. We also have a summer read program for children, young adults and adults sign ups usually starts the week ending June, the program starts July 1st. We also house the Morgan County Historical and Genealogical Society, and provide space for the Literacy Volunteers of the Eastern Panhandle.
