Inclusive Tech World

🤝 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬. 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬.

On 13 September 2026, Inclusive Tech World had the privilege of joining the Anglican Church Ha Thaabe to raise awareness about disability and promote a culture of inclusion within the church and the wider community.

We were deeply inspired to see the progress the church has made in creating an environment where persons with disabilities are not only welcomed, but are actively participating, serving, and finding a sense of belonging. This is an important reminder that true inclusion goes beyond awareness; it is about creating spaces where everyone can contribute, serve, and fulfil their purpose.

A true example of inclusion was seen through Ausi Nts’iuoa Violet Senats’i, a person with a disability who was given the opportunity to actively participate and serve within the church. Inclusion means you don’t just allow me into the room as a leader; you also give me the opportunity to lead and participate like everyone else.

We are grateful to the Anglican Church Ha Thaabe for opening its doors and demonstrating that disability does not limit a person’s ability, purpose, or contribution. At Inclusive Tech World, we remain committed to working with communities and institutions to advance inclusion and ensure that persons with disabilities have equal opportunities to participate and belong.

We extend our 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝗶 𝗡𝘁𝘀’𝗶𝘂𝗼𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 on this next step of their journey!

🗳️ 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐨

On 𝟯 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, Inclusive Tech World (ITW) participated in the 𝗦𝗔𝗗𝗖 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 held at Victory Hall, Maseru, bringing together stakeholders from civil society, media, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), and organisations representing persons with disabilities.

The meeting focused on reviewing the implementation of recommendations from the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 and strengthening electoral processes to ensure that future elections are free, fair, transparent, and inclusive.

As Inclusive Tech World, our contribution focused on𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟰: 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. We emphasised that electoral accessibility must go beyond the physical polling station. 𝗩𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 to persons with disabilities.

We highlighted the need for measures such as 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲-𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀, 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀, 𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘀 where permanent infrastructure may not be feasible.

We also stressed the importance of enabling persons with disabilities to𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆. When disabled voters are forced to rely on others to cast their ballots, their right to secrecy and independent participation can be compromised.

Lesotho has made important commitments through instruments including the 𝗨𝗡 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 (𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗥𝗣𝗗), 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟭, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗔𝗗𝗖 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. However, meaningful inclusion requires these commitments to be translated into practice.

At Inclusive Tech World, we believe that 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆. An election that leaves persons with disabilities behind cannot be considered truly democratic, fair, or free.

𝗔𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗯𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆.

🤝 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬: 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

Inclusive Tech World, in partnership with the National University of Lesotho , UNFPA Lesotho, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, hosted a seminar focused on 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

The seminar was held at the 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗼 𝗼𝗻 𝟮𝟴 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, bringing together different stakeholders to share their work, experiences, and approaches towards advancing disability inclusion.

The participation of different stakeholders provided an important opportunity to showcase 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, while also examining the 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻. One of the key themes emerging from the discussions was the importance of approaching disability inclusion not simply as a matter of awareness, but as a 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, as it was stressed by 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹.

Through 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, participants were encouraged to challenge stereotypes and reflect on what meaningful inclusion looks like in practice.

For 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱, a major focus was on the role of 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 (𝗔𝗧𝘀) 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗔𝗜) in creating more inclusive institutions of higher learning. Assistive technologies can help remove barriers to information, communication, learning, and access to physical and digital environments, while emerging AI solutions present new opportunities to support accessibility and participation.

Our call is therefore for 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 to ensure that disability does not become a reason for a student to abandon their education, aspirations, or future.
The importance of this was brought to life through the 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, some of whom spoke about having to leave higher education because institutions were unable to adequately accommodate their needs. These experiences remind us that inclusion cannot remain a conversation—it must be reflected in the systems, environments, technologies, and support structures that students encounter every day.

At Inclusive Tech World, we are committed to changing this narrative. Through our work in 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆-𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴, we seek to support learners, workers, and communities so that disability does not mean that one's education, career, independence, or aspirations have to come to an end.

𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀. 𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆.

Together, we can help build higher education environments where 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀, 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲.

As part of our 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗼, we continue to explore what the findings tell us about participation in different areas of society.

Our 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

The findings reveal a significant concern around access to formal employment. 𝟵𝟲% 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, highlighting the extent to which barriers may continue to affect access to jobs.

Perceptions of government policy effectiveness and support from government and NGOs were also mixed, suggesting that existing efforts may not yet be making a sufficient difference in the everyday economic experiences of persons with disabilities.
However, the findings also reveal a strong sense of 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆.

These findings present an important contrast: 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆, 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁.

The results point to the need for more inclusive employment systems, accessible workplaces, reasonable accommodations, stronger implementation of inclusion policies, support for entrepreneurship, and greater access to inclusive financial services.
At 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱, we believe inclusion must extend beyond participation, it must create genuine opportunities for persons with disabilities to 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻, 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆.

This year 2026, Inclusive Tech World conducted a national study examining perceptions of 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗼.

The study provides insights into how respondents perceive key areas affecting the lives and participation of persons with disabilities. These perceptions studied are on:

After many engagements with 𝗕𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗹𝘆 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, hearing communities’ stories and gaining a deeper understanding of their challenges, while exploring innovative ideas around 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀, Inclusive Tech World (ITW) and Butterfly Sanctuary Organisation have taken a decisive step forward by signing a 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗠𝗼𝗨) to formalise our partnership.

On 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝟭𝟰 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, we had the honour of coming together to mark this important milestone under the theme “𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.”

As part of our 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 examining perceptions of exclusion, inclusion, and opportunity among persons with disabilities in Lesotho, our second key finding explores the role of 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 in creating a more inclusive society.

The findings reveal a strong sense of optimism about technology as a driver of inclusion. 𝗔𝗻 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟵𝟲% 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗜𝗖𝗧 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, while 𝟳𝟴% 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗔𝗜) 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀.

Respondents also showed strong confidence in the role of NGOs in promoting technology and innovation, recognising them as key partners in expanding opportunities and supporting inclusion.
These findings reinforce an important message: when technology is accessible, inclusive, and supported by the right partnerships, it becomes a powerful tool for education, employment, independence, and social participation.

One of the key messages we emphasized was that 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗮 𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲, 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲.

Technology can remove barriers, but 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘀, 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀. By working together, we can challenge misconceptions, promote accessibility, and ensure that persons with disabilities are empowered to participate fully in education, employment, leadership, and community life.
