Happy New Year from NOAR — Neighbors Organizing Against Racism
As we step into a new year, I want our community to hear this clearly: NOAR is still here.
My name is Tracy-Ann Bullocks, and I am honored to serve as Executive Director of Neighbors Organizing Against Racism (NOAR) during this pivotal season. Over the past several months, we made the intentional decision to pause certain public-facing activities in order to reflect, reassess, and restructure the organization with care and integrity.
This pause is not a retreat—it is a strategic reset. We are strengthening our foundation, clarifying our vision, and aligning our internal systems so that NOAR can return stronger, more sustainable, and more impactful in our work against racism and inequity in our community.
I am deeply grateful for the patience, trust, and continued support of our partners, supporters, and neighbors. Your belief in this mission matters, and it fuels the work ahead.
Please know that we are actively preparing for what’s next. NOAR will be back soon—better, bigger, and ready to grow.
From all of us at NOAR, I wish you a powerful, peaceful, and purpose-filled New Year.
P.S. I hope to see you at the Michigan Black Summit!!!
With gratitude and resolve,
Tracy-Ann Bullocks
Executive Director

🔥 Attorney General Keith Ellison — A Relentless Fight for Justice 🔥
When the world watched the horrifying murder of George Floyd, one leader stood firm in the pursuit of justice: Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison.
Ellison didn’t just talk about justice — he delivered it. He took over one of the most watched cases in American history and charged Derek Chauvin with second-degree murder, holding him and the other officers accountable for their roles in George Floyd’s death. It was a rare moment in U.S. history — a police officer convicted for the murder of a Black man.
But Ellison reminded the world:
“Accountability is not the same as justice. Justice means restoration and change.”
Since that day, Ellison has continued to fight for systemic reform — pushing to end unconstitutional policing, rebuild community trust, and ensure that the law protects all people equally.
From the courtroom to the community, Ellison’s leadership shows what courage looks like when the stakes are high and the world is watching. His message is clear: Justice isn’t a moment. It’s a movement. ✊🏾

Nominations Open for the 4th Annual John Lewis People’s Choice Award
Benton Harbor, MI — The Michigan Black Summit, in partnership with Neighbors Organizing Against Racism (NOAR), is proud to announce that the nomination form for the John Lewis People’s Choice Award is now live. This marks the 4th year of honoring the life, legacy, and spirit of Congressman John Lewis, a champion of civil rights and “good trouble.”
The John Lewis People’s Choice Award is unique because it is powered by the public. Community members across Michigan are encouraged to submit nominations of individuals who embody courage, justice, and service in their daily work. Once nominations are finalized, the public will have the opportunity to vote for their choice — with each vote serving as a $5.00 fundraiser contribution to support the mission of the Michigan Black Summit and NOAR.
“This award is more than recognition — it is about honoring those who keep John Lewis’s spirit alive through action,” said Tracy Bullocks, Director of Neighbors Organizing Against Racism. “By opening the voting process to the public, we ensure that this award truly belongs to the people, while also raising critical funds to continue our work.”
The John Lewis Award Celebration has grown into a signature event, shining a light on grassroots leaders who stand on conviction, build community, and inspire change.
