The sun is poking through the clouds and I’m basking in its warmth on my face on my porch, while dreaming of the sweet citrusy scent of these beauties, Mock Orange.
I miss them already and so today I’ve decided I will plant a whole hedgerow of them so that their yummy scent can be enjoyed from the wraparound porch even when winter feels a bit too long.✨

Happy Birthday Mom. This one’s for you. Shore Acres Gardens 46 years later. My first botanical garden was shared with you when I was only four and I fondly remember this time like it was yesterday. That day was so magical as we walked hand in hand, played chase across the expansive lawns, hide and seek throughout the giant rhododendrons where I can still hear your voice echoing, Jenny Henny Penny where are you.
When you found me you would pick up spent blooms and put them in my hair and pockets saying they’re still pretty even from the ground.
When I returned to these magical gardens surrounded by ancient forest along the ocean, I made my way back to the lily pad pond, where I surprised you when I fell in because I thought I could hop from one to the next.
You rescued me and we were both soaking wet laughing and then we sun bathed on the lawns to dry out.
We ended that magical day down on the beach roasting marshmallows and watching the beautiful sunset over the ocean wrapped up together under a blanket. Spring was your season.
I spent today working outside in my new yard, listening to the red wing blackbird we both loved, dreaming of how I will cultivate a new garden space and thinking of and feeling you in each moment of today. I love you, I miss you.

Yay, the Spring Equinox is here!
I’m often asked what season is my favorite and find myself responding in much the same way as when I’m asked- what’s your fav flower… all of them!!
Except I’m not so fond of winter.
Spring feels so hopeful for the growing season ahead.
It’s a fresh start in many ways, it’s the welcome return of familiar petals, the scratching under the soil to feel the pointy plump red points of peonies to come, swollen buds cracking open on fruiting trees, the pleasant chirp of happy birds, days sprinkled with the promise of warmer sunnier days and spring color, lots of seedlings sprouting and GREEN, things are greening up and that makes my heart pitter patter.
So yep, right now in this moment, Spring is my fav season!
