@westsidechapel @brooksrunning Both of my parents are from Jiquilpan, Michoacan, Mexico.

I was born in California and grew up on an Avocado Ranch in Cambria. I love both cultures and want to continue building bridges with the running platform. The best way to explain my love for both countries is that Mexico is like my mother who nurtured and raised me and the USA is like my father who provided and created opportunity.

Swipe right โžก๏ธ to see some raw, un-edited finish line scenes ๐ŸŽฅ from my last race as a professional trail runner for ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป ๐ŸŒ‹๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝ.

A perfect finish after such a grueling race ๐Ÿฅ‡. The only thing I regret is not pulling out my phone during the sunrise ๐ŸŒ… while I was on the top of Acatenango. Hoping to get some pictures soon from the volcano. It was the most beautiful sunrise Iโ€™ve ever seen ๐Ÿ˜ฎ.

My approach to the race was simply to have fun and complete it. I think that attitude is what helped me surprisingly find myself in 1st at the end. The terrain was so hard it just kept breaking everyone ๐Ÿ˜ฎ.

The first downhill and second uphill were so technical that I actually broke my leki hiking poles. Iโ€™ll post a picture ๐Ÿ“ธ of it in my story โ˜๐Ÿผ. The key to navigating that type of terrain was to remain calm and playful like a kid doing parkour ๐Ÿฅท. I imagined myself like my son Jair doing obstacles for fun ๐Ÿคฉ.

I was able to stay positive and get through most of the vert, which is in the first 50k of the race, thanks to my friend ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ. Even though we were โ€œracingโ€ each other in the 100k, he kept giving me tips on the course because he has run it every year since 2021. I also gave him some tips and help on how to settle his nausea and get through his first 100k here (he had raced the 77k every year until now). At the 79k we found out we were now in the lead.

I was actually hoping Nando and I could cross the line together. I waited for him a couple times while he battled nausea/vomit (even though he encouraged me to take off and win it), and it wasnโ€™t until the last aid station that I actually listened to him because we got word that third was closing in.

In the end Nando was able to rally back on the downhill and still secure second place ๐Ÿฅˆ which was so cool ๐Ÿ˜Ž. Grateful and proud of him ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿผ.

More to come, if I can secure some action shots from the volcanoesโ€ฆ๐Ÿค“

IT IS FINISHED ๐Ÿฅ‡!! Couldnโ€™t have asked for a better finish ๐Ÿ˜ƒ. Got to celebrate with my family and run it in together.

Ultra Guatemala ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡น is the hardest ultra Iโ€™ve done. 23 thousand feet of climbing three times tagging 13 thousand foot volcanoes ๐ŸŒ‹, and one super burly descent, with a lot of technical sections ๐Ÿ˜ฎ.

Wasnโ€™t expecting to win this one to be honest. Spent most of the night and day in 3rd and sometimes 2nd, so it was quite the gift to retire this way ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป.

More to come. For now vacation, rest, recovery ๐Ÿ˜Š.

Big shoutout to for all the help ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ. Fun to finally experience this legendary race.

Donโ€™t worry guys im not pulling a Brett Favre move here ๐Ÿ˜œ, this last โ€œfun runโ€ was already planned as a way to celebrate with the family a change in my relationship with running ๐Ÿ˜Š.

This 100k in Antigua Guatemala ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡น is for my wife Jade and our two boys. We are here with all 4 grandparents celebrating Jades birthday and taking a fun vacation ๐Ÿคฉ.

Iโ€™ll be running a 100k that starts at 10pm and climbs all three volcanoes ๐ŸŒ‹. The family will get to come watch tomorrow at 79k and finish ๐Ÿ.

I first heard about this race on a mission trip and have always wanted to do it. And my friend who ran the 42k encouraged me to do it. Itโ€™s going to be super burly but so fun to finally experience these mountains โ›ฐ๏ธ.

When you go to bed, please say a little prayer for me and all the other runners ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ . Mainly for safety and fun. My goal for this race is just to have fun, finish ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ, and celebrate with my family.

The new relationship with running begins today ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ.

โ€ผ๏ธlast picture i caught the volcano erupting ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป.

Fun little pro running retirement surprises ๐Ÿคฉ. Check these out โ˜๐Ÿผโ€ผ๏ธ.

1๏ธโƒฃ Made it on the latest issue of THE Ultra Running Magazine ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป. Next to some of my running heroes. Thanks who let me know and gave me a copy ๐Ÿ˜Š. [pic is from Waldo 100k].

2๏ธโƒฃ The Chapel Run Group๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝ ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ planned a surprise run and celebration for me to celebrate ๐ŸŽŠ ๐ŸŽ‰ after Kodiak. We got to run, eat, and share some experiences. So fun ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ.

Its definitely the people that have made this all special ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป. Grateful ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ.
