•What fills your cup/how do you replenish?

Solving problems. I appreciate a good design challenge. Overcoming them is incredibly satisfying, which is why I enjoy our technical manufacturing projects the most. Aside from the user’s complex operational needs, we are typically working for manufacturing industries that have ever changing qualifications.

•What drives your creativity in the workplace?

The enthusiasm of the individuals I am working with. Whether it’s the client, my officemates, or even my family I think we all thrive in the creative process when energy and ideas are a shared experience.

•What’s one passion outside of design?

Finding new ways to hang with the family. I love watching my kids play in the youth league so much that I made my husband join me in the adult league. Our kids shared soccer with us, and we like to share the mountains with them. Our next family adventures will likely include backpacking, a favorite past-time of ours.

Happy Holidays from BCA! 🎄 While we had many fantastic projects in 2023, an expansion of our own office to create more conferencing space was very exciting! We look forward to hosting you here in 2024! 🌟
Thank you to our friends at and for your support.

· What fills your cup/how do you replenish?
When I’m feeling in a rut or needing a reset, I love to travel. Whether its visiting familiar places close to home, or new cities abroad, I find being in a new location for a while so refreshing and inspiring.

· What drives your creativity in the workplace?
To stimulate my creativity day-to-day, I seek out new products and materials and international trends to see what’s happening outside the PNW. Learning from others outside of my comfort zone can be incredibly enlightening.

· What is your passion outside of design?
I love to spend my time reading, skiing, golfing, trying new restaurants, and enjoying the parks around Bend with my husband Drew and our dog Rupert. I’m also very passionate about animal welfare, specifically around bully breed advocacy.

BCA pursues a variety of project types to keep our design skills sharp. Every year, we accept one private residence commission – this year’s home is in Seattle. The 3500 sf, multi-level “Squirrel House” is for a couple wanting to live among the trees. Nestled between mature cedars and firs, the house is oriented to optimize sunlight while still providing privacy. What a pleasure to design a dream home for a growing family as they welcome their first child!

Max recently passed all six AREs and the State jurisprudence exam. Congratulations Max on becoming a licensed Architect!

What fills your cup/how do you replenish outside of work:

My favorite ideas are smaller in nature. This photo of a planter box in construction was taken shortly after moving to Bend and joining BCA in 2019. I find that it is very fulfilling to make things with my hands and my mind, especially when the result is a space that feels alive and of ourselves.

What drives your creativity?

I am passionate about architecture because I believe that the spaces which we inhabit are very tied to who we are. We shape our environments and are shaped by them.

What is your passion outside of design? All things related to biking!

We are excited to celebrate Rene Fresquez’s one year anniversary. Rene came to BCA from Seattle in 2021 with a wide array of Architectural, Design, and technology knowledge. He joins us as a project leader, working alongside our team of talented design professionals. We are thrilled to have Rene as part of BCA!

One of Rene’s passions is utilizing emerging technologies to improve the way we work and live. Of particular interest to him is the uniquely spatial technologies of virtual and augmented reality. For him, the confluence of digital design and spatial explorations have resulted in a multitude of positive outcomes; from virtual reality design tools for selecting interior finishes and deepening designers’ understanding of the spaces we create, to augmented reality experiences that educate about the built environment, and even exploring how mixed reality technologies can help improve on-site construction work.

A dedicated life-long learner, Rene enjoys attending hackathons and bringing the lessons learned to further enable our team to deliver superior projects for our clients.
