Friendly reminder that Deschutes National Forest summer leash restrictions along the Deschutes River Trail between Meadow and Benham Falls are in place.
Between May 15 and September 15, dogs must be on leash at all times due to “intense recreational use” and “the potential for conflicts with other users.” There is a $200 fine.
Good Dog! is the only place where you can hike, bike or run with your dog off-leash year-round alongside the Deschutes River and Deschutes River Trail area.
More information can be found here:
Deschutes National Forest - Dog Restrictions Where Do Leash Requirements or Closures Apply? The vast majority of the Deschutes National Forest accommodates off-leash opportunities for dogs. These opportunities are available in many beautiful and scenic areas of the forest.

Volunteering is fun when you can bring your dog! Thirteen Dogpac Volunteers and their doggos came out to Good Dog! this weekend to pluck invasive cheatgrass from the trailhead area. The crew filled 38 bags in two hours! Dogpac would like to thank each volunteer for doing their part to care for this very special place. We love Good Dog! and the volunteers who help care for it.
Our next event will be a P**p Pick-up in late September before the snow falls. Stay tuned!

Cheatgrass Pull This Saturday (5/23) 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Good Dog!
Dogpac Supporters, come on out this Saturday morning and join us in our effort to reduce the amount of invasive cheatgrass growing around the Rimrock/Good Dog! Trailhead area.
If you can’t commit to two hours, we’ll take 30 minutes! Whatever time you can give to help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheatgrass is an invasive species that chokes out native plants, makes our forests more vulnerable to wildfire and has barbed seed heads that get lodged in dog paws, eyes, noses and ears. The best way to eradicate it is to pluck it!
We will supply the lawn bags. All you need to do is show up ready to pull some weeds! You may wish to wear some light gloves, but most of us use our bare hands.
We hope to see you there!

Thank you Deschutes Trails Coalition for inviting us to participate in the Trail Stewardship event last night at Bend Brewing Company. We met many of our supporters and signed up new volunteers to help us with clean-up efforts and other future events.
We also had the opportunity to hang out with our friend, Andy from the Bend Park & Recreation District. Dogpac and BPRD have worked together over the years to provide off-leash dog parks to the Bend Community.
Other trail organizations in attendance were Central Oregon Trail Alliance, Sisters Trail Alliance, Central Oregon Central Oregon Running Club and several others.
We are so grateful for these non-profits and their volunteers. If it wasn't for these groups, we wouldn't have the trail systems and parks that make Bend the special place that it is.
