šÆ awesomeness
Good news!
Yesterday, a federal court ruled that four key provisions (issued in 2019) that implement the Endangered Species Act are unlawful. The lawsuit was brought on
by the Center for Biological Diversity () , Sierra Club () , and WildEarth Guardians () , who were all represented by
Earthjustice ()!
This is a huge win for endangered species in our country, making it more difficult for the administration to undermine protections for the plants and animals that need it most.
Thank you to all of those organizations that worked so hard to fight for our wildlife!

VICTORY FOR ENDANGERED SPECIES! š
Today, a federal court struck down President Trumpās attacks against the Endangered Species Act, restoring key values of the bedrock environmental law.
For more than 50 years, the Endangered Species Act has been one of the most successful conservation laws we have. This victory gives vulnerable species and the ecosystems we all rely on a chance to recover in the face of the climate crisis and relentless pressure from extractive industries.

At the Grand Canyon Wolf Recovery Project, we recognize wolves as sentient beings with intrinsic value and worth, not just as a species to manage, but as lives that matter within the landscapes they call home.
Through education, community engagement, and hands-on opportunities to experience wolf habitat, GCWRP works to inspire a deeper relationship between people and wildlife. By connecting communities, land managers, and decision-makers, we are building grassroots support for the return of Mexican gray wolves to suitable parts of their historic range in the Grand Canyon region.
Because true recovery begins when we recognize that wolves belong, not just in the ecosystem, but in our shared future. šŗ

Letās keep them safe šŗ
Yesterday, wildlife officials confirmed something incredible: a wild gray wolf (BEY03F) has arrived in Los Angeles County, marking the first documented appearance of a wolf here in over 100 years. This 3-year-old female traveled hundreds of miles from the Sierra Nevada in search of territory and a mate ā a testament to the resilience of Californiaās endangered wolves.
But with this milestone comes real danger. As wolves disperse through our landscapes, their movements often put them in harmās way ā especially near roads and highways. Wolves hit by vehicles remain one of the leading causes of mortality for gray wolves across the West, and BEY03F could face the same deadly risk.
šØ Hereās how YOU can help:
Apex is launching the campaign to raise awareness and proactively protect this wandering wolf and others like her. Hereās how you can help:
šŗPut up āWolf Crossingā signs wherever you see wildlife corridors, trailheads, and roadways near natural spaces in LA County
šŗShare photos of your sign with the hashtag
šŗTag friends, local parks, city councils, and community groups to spread the word
Wolves were once native up and down the West Coast, including Southern California ā until predator eradication programs wiped them out a century ago. Their return is historic, but fragile. Protecting wolves means protecting wild ecosystems and respecting the intrinsic value of native wildlife.
Join the movement:
Whether youāre posting a sign at a trailhead, sharing this post, or tagging your local officials to support wildlife-friendly measures ā your voice matters. Use and to make sure BEY03F arrives safely to wherever her journey leads.
Letās show this wolf ā and all Californians ā that our wild spaces are worth protecting.

The motion to dismiss the felony cruelty charges that was filed by Robert Piper, attorney for Cody J. Roberts, was officially denied by Judge Lavery.
This means the case will proceed. There are still eight days for a plea deal to be reached. If no deal is agreed to, the case will proceed to trial.
We are still waiting to hear back about the decision to have Kenneth Mills, lead wolf biologist with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, testify as an expert witness.

Wolves BELONG ā„ļø wild and free
A newly released preprint from the University of Vienna debunks a longāstanding myth: our fear of wolves isnāt an evolutionary reflex, itās a product of culture and narrative.
The research team scanned the brains of 42 volunteers while they viewed images of wolves, domestic dogs, and snakes. While the snake images triggered threat responses in subcortical brain regions, the wolves and dogs did not. In fact, the neural data showed almost no difference between how our brains process wolves versus dogs. But when asked to rate how threatening each animal seemed, the participants overwhelmingly said wolves were scarier than dogs.
This disconnect reveals something profound: opposition to wolves is a learned belief, not an instinct. The authors found that stories and stereotypesāsuch as Little Red Riding Hoodāframe wolves as the ābad guys,ā but these attitudes can be shifted through education, communication, and coexistence strategies.
Itās time we rewrite the narrative. With science, we can counter fearāmongering and show our communities that wolves are not monsters but a species worthy of respect and protection.
