I discovered a bit of Pops’ magic this summer when going through some of his things. Years ago, he spotted potential in stack of discarded stair treads bound for the landfill. Pops came home with a truck load of beautiful Brazilian Cherry hardwood, and a vision.

Along with some of his tools, I discovered had pre-cut a handful of boards for this holiday season, and I just couldn’t let his vision fade. I spent hours sanding, and eventually 9 boards were ready to find a new home.

Now, just one remains—the last 12x12 Brazilian Cherry cutting board. This isn’t just any cutting board; it’s a nod to Pops’ creative spirit and the journey from overlooked wood to kitchen treasure.

So, who needs a one-of-kind, last minute gift for someone special?

Some of you may know, but for anyone who has not yet heard, we lost Jason aka “Pops” this last spring.

He was a big part of business from the very start, but liked to stay out of the spotlight.

He created countless cutting boards and would entertain any wild idea I had, including turning this weekend project into an actual business. He was my #1 fan and the muscle behind anything I could dream up.

I always hoped one day this would be our retirement plan together. I could see myself hand pouring creme, keeping orders filled, and Jason would be puttering around the shop making cutting boards for years to come.

I’ve recently updated our website, and added a tribute. Pops will always be a big part of us, and without him, wouldn’t likely exist.

It’s such a beautiful fall day, so I took advantage of the warm weather and did quite a bit of sanding today.
