Why would you do somatic group work?
Because many of our deepest wounds happened in relationship. And for learning, integration, and repair to occur, we need experiences of connection, attunement, and reparation to happen in relationship, also.
Human beings learn through relationship.
From the very beginning of life, we are shaped by what we experience in the relational field around us. Before we have language, we are already learning through rhythm, touch, tone, facial expression, movement, presence, and the quality of attention we receive and observe.
We also learn through modeling. We watch how people relate to one another. We experience how needs are met—or not met. We learn what happens when someone has a boundary, expresses an emotion, reaches for connection, takes up space, or needs to move away. These experiences become part of our implicit understanding of what it means to be human and to be in relationship.
Over time, these ways of learning do not remain simply as ideas or beliefs. They become implicit knowledge held within the body and nervous system—patterns of expectation, perception, movement, protection, and response that can become woven into our autonomic functioning. We may find ourselves responding before we have consciously decided how we want to respond....

Birthing Our Essence
Join us October 2 for a three-day somatic process and integration workshop! These workshops are also known as Womb Surrounds.
Drawing from the field of Pre- and Perinatal Somatic Psychology, we explore the lived experience of human development from before conception through life in the womb, birth, and early infancy. Through embodied awareness, relational presence, and compassionate inquiry, we listen to the stories held within the nervous system, opening the possibility for healing, integration, and a more authentic expression of who we are.
The three-day workshop begins Friday at 4:30 PM and concludes Sunday evening. These are full days, with Friday and Saturday sessions sometimes continuing into the evening. Please give yourself plenty of space around these weekend workshops so you can be fully present for the experience.

What Do the Skull and Pelvis Have in Common? More Than You Might Think.
At first glance, they seem far apart. The skull protects the brain, while the pelvis provides support for the lower trunk. Yet anatomically and functionally, they are deeply connected.
The resonance between the skull and pelvis is one of the central themes of Body Intelligence Seminar 4.
The skull and pelvis are connected through the spine and through a system of membranes. The dura mater lines the inside of the skull and continues into the spinal canal, forming the dural sac, with important relationships extending towards the sacrum. In the training, this central connection is also explored through the concept of the Core Link.
But this is not only about anatomical continuity. In the biodynamic approach, we learn to perceive how movement and organisation in one part of the body relate to the whole. The skull, spine, and pelvis are not three separate regions – they participate in an interconnected system.
We can observe this even in everyday movement. Changes in the organisation of the pelvis influence the spine and the way we carry the head. Likewise, patterns of tension and organisation around the head and neck can be reflected in the posture of the whole body.
In BCST, however, the aim is not to mechanically search for what is “wrong”. The practitioner learns to perceive resonance between different parts of the organism – their relationships, motility, and organisation within Primary Respiration.
Sometimes change does not begin in the place where a person experiences difficulty. The organism may find a pathway towards greater balance through relationships extending across the whole body.
This reflects one of the central principles of the biodynamic perspective: the body is not a collection of separate parts. It is a whole in which structures are continually relating to and influencing one another.
