From counting trees 🌳 and measuring rainfall ☔ to noticing patterns in leaves and flowers 🌼, elementary math helps students make sense of the world around them.

A former elementary classroom teacher and math site leader, Math Perspectives Instructor Nicole Jawhari, brings practical classroom expertise, instructional coaching experience, and a deep commitment to equity in mathematics education. She specializes in helping educators understand how children develop mathematical thinking and how to translate that understanding into powerful classroom practice. Did you know the number **π (pi)** goes on forever? It represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter — a discovery first calculated by the brilliant mathematician Archimedes thousands of years ago!

The first three digits are **3.14**, which is why we celebrate **Pi Day on March 14 (3/14)** every year. It’s an added bonus to share the love of this day with our math friends over at Northern Heights Elementary School 🎉
