Specialize in the art of pruning trees for their overall health and appeal in the urban landscape. In that search I met a fella who called himself a tree guy.

Back in 2015 I had moved to the Portland, OR area and was looking for a job. He had so many stories about working in trees and seemed to know a lot about how trees grew and behaved. His stories motivated me to give the tree industry a try. It was love at first sight, and like any love story my story is full of glorious moments and major learning curves. A before and after of a beautiful Dogwood tree I have been working on for a few years. I cut what felt like a thousand tiny little cuts to give this tree layering throughout the canopy but to maintain the overall shape. This tree was "pruned for containment," about 5 years ago. Basically, it was "topped." It's been a slow process of pruning while also letting the tree re-grow to its size before being topped. It had to get really bushy in order to fine prune it into what it is today! Trees are resilient, with the proper care and patience a dogwood can recover from very stressful heavy prune.

Baby Cedar tree that was removed. Planted way too close to the house foundation and its roots where in the bed of a two-foot-tall retaining wall. Clients wanted it removed before it got too big. I was solo for this removal. Thankfully it was a baby tree because I got to test out my new trailer to see how much brush it could hold.

Had a good challenging couple of days on a blackberry and Hawthorne covered hillside. The bulk of the project was reducing Hawthornes to regain the view for a house overlooking Lake Washington. The house had a great view of Mt. Rainer too! These pictures do not do justice for how steep the hillside truly is.

Got to Fine prune a dogwood tree at my parents' house! It took what felt like a thousand tiny cuts and 2 hours but come spring this tree with all its branches is going to have a lot of room to breath and grow without crowding itself out.
