I’m just so happy how this 3rd generation decanter is looking so far! 🎊

Please don’t remind me how long it took to make this thing. I know my perfectionism took over from the beginning.

It’d be nice to one day soon adventure into making more wabi sabi pieces and fall in love with that.

The tallest I’ve thrown in one piece so far with porcelain 🎉.

It’s a milestone for me that is worth celebrating.

In the three years and six months since I started throwing it has been a challenge more than I expected to throw tall in the shape I desired.

I remember the first class on a day in October 2022 when I (never touched a lump of clay before) confidently said that by the end of the six weeks beginner class I would throw a big vase.

Well, that didn’t happen. It didn’t happen for a long time afterwards either.

But it happened today with 6 lb 12 oz of reclaimed porcelain.

I tend to overdo it when it comes to making which usually works against me. So when I reached this point today I thought wait, it can’t be that easy. 😅 But it was. The easiness came from not giving up practicing even when it looked like there’s no progress for a long time.

Porcelain is tougher for beginners and likes to sag with too much manipulation on the wheel.

So I’m very glad to have thrown this on the wheel today.
12 & 1/2 inches. Just enough to put in my small kiln.

Why do I always think my pots are taller than they are?
