EXHIBITION OPENING: iWRITE THE FUTURE
“The pen has returned to the hand that knows the truth.”
For a long time, we are told who we are by the world around us. But there comes a point where the “i”-the humble, honest self-must decide to write a better future. WRITE THE FUTURE is about that transition from observation to authorship. It is the realization that you are the only one qualified to finish your story.
Using bold charcoal and intentional mark-making, Safiuchi explores the healing power of ownership. This show is an invitation to put down the “Archives” and start a new page. The process is the proof: every stroke is a choice, every layer is a lesson, and every chapter is written with intention.
Own the narrative. Write the future.

“Gerry Sims is a Seattle-based artist whose work explores the Black experience through material transformation and realism. Working with casting, fiberglass, plaster, and reclaimed materials, Sims recreates everyday objects to examine labor, consumption, incarceration, and systems of economic inequality. His practice is informed by lived experience and a close proximity to the justice system, using familiar forms to hold memory, resilience, and social history. Through material weight and subtle disruption, Sims invites viewers to reconsider what is often overlooked and whose lives are embedded in the objects we encounter daily.“

“The future arrives unconstrained by death. Living water. Mouth at the stream of no fulfillment. The past for us is a future for you. Whatever the word is, it’s not fishing but something like a mirror. Another life waits to dip her feet in the pool of water. It is night falling.
A series of paintings by Emily Wise and Kristen Diederich find their way through Agua Viva by a novel by Clarice Lispector. In Argentina they simply called her Clarice. This is what it is like to be a woman already dead. Night is falling and all that shines invites those willing to jump. We invite you to swim with us.”
