Right place. Right time. Right kit. 🌊🚲 Sometimes the best shots are the ones you couldn’t have planned if you tried. Major thanks to the unexpected aerial assist for making this coastal Monterey backdrop unforgettable! 🪂

If this makes you uncomfortable, it might be because you need to hear it 🗣️👇
Let’s just say it takes calculated grit to hold your own in the biking world. It is about knowing your limits and unapologetically owning your space. Whether it’s passing on a feature that doesn’t feel right, riding at your own pace, or holding your ground during race practice… you deserve to be out there just as much as anyone else!
Ladies, it has never been more our time. I see you out there pushing through barriers that people don’t even realize exist. The momentum is shifting because of you. So keep showing up, be the reason another girl decides to drop in, and let’s hold the door open for the next wave of women in this sport! 💪

The story of getting Pippi didn’t actually start with Pippi. It started with a boy named Hank.
Hank was a part Aussie, part Border Collie that Spencer and I used to walk back when we ran a dog walking business. He was completely full of life and absolutely lived for riding bikes with us. We never even needed to put a trail bell on him, all you had to do was yell “Hank!” and he would let out three joyful barks right behind your tire to let you know he was there.
He was also a funny, quirky fellow. Emma could be a lot when she was younger, and sometimes Hank would literally run away and hide in a nearby bush just to avoid the social interaction. Honestly, I could relate. Now Pippi gives her a taste of that medicine daily!
Tragically, Hank was hit by a car and passed away. It was a completely devastating day, especially because it happened right before we were supposed to take him out for a biking adventure. His loss left a massive, dark hole for us and for his family. Even though we don’t dog walk professionally anymore, we still walk Evie, the sweet dog his family adopted after his passing.
I’ve never really talked about Hank on here, but I wanted to make a little space for him today. Hank was our entire inspiration for getting little Miss Pip. He showed me what unrelenting fun on two wheels looks like, and what it means to be the absolute fastest swimmer in the water.
We chose a Border Collie because of you, Hank. Even when we were picking Pippi, I swear I saw you in one of the other puppies. He had your same sweet brown eyes. Almost as if saying goodbye one last time.
It’s in the little moments with Pippi that we continue to see you. When she talks with glee on a bike ride in the exact same manner you did, we see you in her. Her funny personality quirks parallel yours in every universe. And her need for a hug in every still moment is identical to you.
A couple of weeks ago, we were given Hank’s old dog backpack. We hope someday that you grow into it, Miss Pip. It’s a beautiful thing, seeing pieces of him live on in you.
Your time was too short, Hank, but your love was endless. I can’t believe it’s been an entire riding season since you’ve been gone.

April really happened in the blink of an eye. 🤯 We started the month with the classic gray skies, and it ended up being a whirlwind of nonstop movement.
From soaking up the sun, good food, and beach time in Santa Cruz to the beautiful chaos of Sea Otter, it was definitely more of a “work trip” than a vacation but I wouldn’t trade it! Behind the scenes, it’s been crazy trying to scale with Spencer while simultaneously working to make Freya Timmerman a fuller, clearer reflection of what I want to build. Getting my logo together was just step one of finding the time to make these bigger plans happen.
Coming home meant jumping right back into the grind: kicking off our Spring Sale, diving into community outreach, keeping up with media, and finally watching Pippi and Emma get to just play in the yard.
Being a small business owner times two is a crazy balancing act. It’s been hectic, it’s been incredibly fun, and I’m so ready for what’s next! ✨
Sometimes you have to look back at old footage to remember where you’re going. Looking at it now has me doing a lot of reflecting on my riding journey, the chaotic reality of race days, and the behind-the-scenes of the MTB community.
I’ve been quietly writing down my thoughts, from the reality of injuries to the absolute mayhem of mass starts at Sea Otter (seriously, it was wild), and I just put it all into my new blog.
If you want the real, unfiltered side of the ride, the link is in my bio. Go give it a read and let me know if you’ve ever experienced the same thing on the start line!
You don’t need to overcomplicate your hydration or spend crazy money on mixes. Sugar for quick-burning carbs, salt to replace what you sweat out, and trace minerals for muscle function.
This is the exact base formula I use for big days on the bike, and you better believe the full science and flavor variations are going to be in Cooking Up Loam.
Now if you’ll excuse me, Pippi is ready to drop in! 🐕🏎️💨🏁
• The Base: 1 liter of water.
• The Flavor: 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons).
• The Fuel: 3 tablespoons of honey or sugar.
• The Electrolytes: 1/4 teaspoon of table salt and 1/8 teaspoon of lite salt.
• The Extra: 5 drops of liquid trace minerals.

Sometimes you win some sometimes you lose some. Unfortunately, most of these photos were taken a little bit before I fractured my humerus. The first lap I noticed my balance was thrown off in the section I would later crash in, but didn’t think much of it. On the second lap I added more speed into the equation and crashed before I had time to process it, body slamming my right arm.
I had surgery last night and have about a three month recovery. I can now say from experience that Skagit Valley Hospital is absolutely incredible. Every nurse and doctor was so mindful and kind. The sort of experience I haven’t had in any hospital before.
HUGE thanks to everyone who’s been helping Spencer and I as we scrambled to get everything figured out. I’m bummed we won’t get to watch Red Bull Rampage this year, but will plan for the next, healthier, and stronger than before.
I feel pretty lucky that I’m left-handed and still can do a lot because of that. I’m shifting my mindset to arts and crafts + wedding planning. If anyone is looking for a crafting partner, you know who to call 🙈🎨
