I haven't been creating for several months, which is probably not good for me. Need to sit down and paint more.

Hey, thanks everyone, you are great! Having reached 700 followers I can say I'm not trying to make a career out of running a FB page 😄 but I do love sharing the things I make with you all, so thank you for sticking around. Can't wait to see what comes next!

This is an old painting my folks gave me but it was missing something, so I added some frogs. I think it still needs a little more, maybe a possum or something, and add a bit more to the trees. Anyway, getting close!

I recently saw someone say "technique is a tool not a goal" and that sums up my own beliefs about art. Realism in art is not interesting on it's own, for example, but it can be used effectively to create something interesting.
This doubly applies to the boom of AI images. Folks are so impressed with the technique that they often don't explore their own ideas. Eventually it all starts to look the same. If you generate AI images at all, don't just make something pretty or cool for the sake of being pretty or cool, but actually explore the limits of the software and your own imagination. Get weird with it. Try to break the damn thing if you can and see what happens.

In D&D ttrpg there is a race of hyena people called Gnolls. They were originally a cross between a gnome and a troll, so I'm not sure how the hyena aspect started, but that's where it sits today.
Finished this piece for after reading Red Paint by Sasha LaPointe. "Gorgoneion" 4x6in, graphite & watercolor.
