Witchcraft & Wellness
I believe we can heal through nature. Hello! My name is Samantha, or as you might know me from social media "The Sayge Witch".

I am the sole creator of "The Mooncast", a podcast all about nature, wellness, and of course... magic! I live in the magnificent Pacific Northwest with my little family in a cottage in the country side. Aside from making podcasts, I also enjoy cooking, wild-crafting, thrifting, and of course, studying magic. I have been a witch for over 25 years, and am so happy to share what I have learned with you.

Honoring the ancestors and those who have gone back to the stars before me...

My son and I were recently talking about "Ragnarok". I was telling him the tale of how all the warriors would fight and feast each day to prepare for the great battle that would ensue come the end of the Gods and the world.

It's a funny idea for some. Why would anyone be joyful or proud to take place in a battle they most certainly knew they were going to lose?

Ragnarok is much like death itself; inevitable and natural. But from the end of one thing comes the birth of another. It is the natural, endless cycle of life and death. And to me, being a part of something so grand is indeed, honorable and joyful.

Life is much the same way; one day you will "lose". But why would you not fight and feast while you still live?

As the seasons turn, and the leaves fall from the trees, this is something I meditate on.

I like working with Loki... Occasionally. Though some may warn against entangling with the energies of this God, I find him to be very helpful, especially when the path is unclear. Loki prods us to take action, ANY action, instead of remaining stuck where we are. Working with Loki is to surrender control, which can be a very hard thing to do, and allow the threads of fate to guide you. This path might be frustrating, and even painful at times, but sometimes a little of these things is what we need to move and grow.

Loki is necessary chaos. After all, many of the Gods stories wouldn't even exist if it weren't for him. And like Nature, Loki is neither good nor evil; he just IS. Viewing Loki as exclusively evil is a very dualistic way of thinking. Is fire evil because it burns the tree? Is water evil because it drowns the sailor? No. It purely exists as it is and always has... A force of Nature.

Meet my friend "Kulshan", or as it is commonly known as "Mt. Baker". This peak of the Cascades has always been a steadfast watcher in my very backyard as long as memory serves. When I was little I would sit in the field, and silently listen to the wisdom of this great mountain. I would even ask it questions when I felt my most lost, and if I was still and quiet enough, it would answer back.

The natural world around me is the very backbone of my spirituality.

Hello my friends...

I just wanted to take a moment to stop by and let you know I am still here. Over the last five months I have been on an incredible journey! I feel this break has been good for both my spirit and my craft. Its a bit of a conundrum that even though I reach you through social media, I cannot stress how important it is to "unplug", especially in regards to your own craft and spirituality.

I've used my time away to really think about the direction of this page/channel, and have some fun and exciting projects in the works! I have been slowly and intentionally considering some new podcast topics, as well as new ways to share the knowledge I have gained over the last 30 years as a witch.

So thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for sticking around. You'll be hearing from me soon.

-Samantha

You don't know if you can until you try...

The universe, Gods, or however you choose to see the magical flow of nature are on your side. Will you always get what you want? Not always. But you are more powerful than you've been led to believe. Trust your intuition.

I can't wait to use my giant cauldron over the fire this Fall...

What would you do with a cauldron this size? Spells? Make a soup? Tell me about it in the comments section 🍂
