Hi, I’m Melissa. 👋
I’ve been a little quiet lately, mostly because I’ve been busy collecting memories over things on an extended trip through Europe. (Paris and London on the list? ✅ Obviously.)
But I’m back, and it felt like a good time to reintroduce myself, because Moving With Simplicity is so much more than a moving company.
I’m a Senior Move Manager based in the Pacific Northwest, but trained in the Midwest of North Dakota and Fargo!
I help older adults and their families navigate one of life’s most emotional transitions: leaving a home that holds decades of living.
I show up with:
💛 Peonies-level care (okay, not literally, but close)
🎨 A creative eye for making new spaces feel like home
🧭 Real expertise in accessibility, organization, and the emotional side of downsizing
✈️ And a deep belief that every new chapter deserves a beautiful beginning
If you or someone you love is facing a move, whether it’s into a senior community, a smaller home, or something in between, I’d love to help.
Drop a hello in the comments, send me a message, or just like this post so I know you’re out there. 💕
I’m so glad to be back.

Something unexpected and genuinely moving happened recently.
Moving with Simplicity has been nominated for Best in the PNW by The Seattle Times, in not one, not two, but three categories: Home Organizers, Moving Services, and Woman-Owned Business.
I’ve spent years walking alongside people through some of the most emotionally complex transitions of their lives. Helping someone leave a home they’ve lived in for 40 years isn’t just logistics, it’s an honor. And to have that work recognized by this community? I’m still a little speechless, and if you know me, you know how rare that is!
This nomination didn’t come from a marketing campaign. It came from people who trusted me with something tender and personal. That means everything.
If Moving with Simplicity has touched your life, or the life of someone you love, I’d be so grateful for your vote. The link is in the comments. 🩵
And whether you vote or not, thank you. For trusting me. For referring me. For cheering me on. This work only exists because of you.
Anyone, anywhere can vote ❤️

Even organizers need to organize themselves. ✨
I spent today working on my own bathroom, a space I’d honestly been avoiding for months. Limited storage, lots of products, neglected systems.
The process was the same as it is for every client I work with:
1️⃣ Remove everything
2️⃣ Discard what no longer serves you
3️⃣ Deep clean
4️⃣ Reimagine the space
The result? A bathroom that finally feels calm. Candles lit, everything in its place.
No matter how small the space, there’s always a better version of it waiting on the other side of the work.
💬 What space have you been avoiding? Drop it below!

Tell me I’m not alone… 🖤😂 (too many black clothes!)
I spent the afternoon prepping for a presentation I’m giving Wednesday at The Bellettini in Bellevue, WA, and this slide made me stop and laugh at myself.
Because honestly? Most of us are guilty of it.
But here’s what I want every client to know BEFORE they start packing:
👉 Your closet is the #1 place to begin, not the night before the movers arrive.
When we start early, magic happens:
✔️ You find things you forgot you owned (hello, long lost favorites!)
✔️ You stop moving things you don’t actually love
✔️ Packing becomes faster and WAY less stressful
✔️ You arrive in your new home feeling fresh, not buried
The move itself is just one day.
The preparation is everything.
That’s why I start these conversations early, because a smooth transition isn’t just about boxes. It’s about helping you feel confident and ready for what’s next.
💬 Drop a 🖤 below if your closet is basically a black hole, I want to know I’m in good company!

This week on the blog: the non-obvious signs your aging parent may be struggling at home.
Not the dramatic ones, the quiet ones.
A darker house than usual. Repeating the same story twice in one visit. Withdrawing from friends without explanation.
These are the things families often notice but explain away, until things are harder than they needed to be.
At Moving With Simplicity, we work with families every day who are navigating exactly this moment. If you’re starting to see the signs and aren’t sure what the next step looks like, we’re here to help.
