The artwork inside the Detroit Institute of Arts is a space that speaks volumes all on its own. Adding delicate florals to the ceremony was truly the icing on the cake. Complimented by sleek black chairs that accentuated the richness of the room while aligning beautifully with the color palette, every detail came together effortlessly. Although the design feels simple, it still makes a bold statement at the same time.

Now that I’m maturing in the event planning industry, I’m beginning to truly appreciate the beauty of bold, intentional floral design and I want to showcase more of that to my audience.

The more you work with people, the more you realize there’s a difference between a florist and a floral designer. Both play an important role in the industry and both can create beautiful work, but when you’re looking for something deeply unique that tells a story, I often recommend working with a floral designer.

A floral designer goes beyond arranging flowers. They create an experience and bring a vision to life. There’s a certain level of guidance, creativity, and artistry involved in the process. They’re able to take the lead creatively and transform ideas into something truly intentional and unforgettable.

The art of the first dance!! I’ve seen this done in so many beautiful ways whether it’s a super creative dance routine, the classic slow dance to your favorite love song, or even sharing a private first dance before guests enter the room (my personal favorite, by the way).

There’s something so special about that moment, and personally, I don’t think it’s a tradition we should get rid of. It’s one of the few moments during the day where couples can truly pause and be present with one another.

Instead of skipping it altogether, I always encourage couples to make it their own and find an approach that feels authentic to them. There’s no right or wrong way to do a first dance. The beauty is in creating a moment that reflects your relationship.

Table for two!!! Allow this space to be as bold and unique as possible. With all the movement that happens throughout the day, having a sweetheart table can give the couple a moment to feel secluded, reconnect, and simply enjoy each other’s company for a little while.

I’ve really been leaning more into unique sweetheart table designs lately. They create such a beautiful focal point and give couples a space that feels intentional, personal, and unforgettable.

Don’t let anyone tell you differently, marriage is still a beautiful thing.

The joy of marriage is a huge part of why I do what I do. We all love the beautiful decor and the spaces we create events in, but I will always say the union is the most important aspect of the day. Watching two people become one, surrounded by the people they love most, will forever be my favorite part.

I still can’t believe I get to witness love for a living. 🤍
