Freedom has a cost, and the cost of freedom is to die… to die to yourself, to die to your plan of how you thought your life was supposed to go, to die to your old way of thinking, and to die to your flesh. New life will come through that. Once you surrender to the Lord’s vision and plan, He can work and produce so much more than you ever could on your own.

When we were coming up with this artwork, we had a lot of great ideas, but we thought a piece of grain was significant in the process of getting free. We look at our lives and see how broken we are, the hell we’ve been through, the obstacles we’ve come across, and we recognize our limitations. But when we take our hands off of our lives and surrender to the Lord, peace and healing follows. The freedom he brings into your life is unrivaled by anything else.

If I would’ve laid out my life, there are so many things I would’ve done differently, but when I look back, I see how He always had His hand on me and how everything was leading to surrender, and how surrender pointed toward the path to freedom.

We’re excited to announce that we have a brand new single coming out on January 12th called “The Cost of Freedom.”

Leading up to the release, we’re going to be sharing the heart and inspiration behind this song. “The Cost of Freedom” comes from the realization that a lot of people are born again, but may not be walking in the level of freedom that Christ provided. It’s a journey and we wanted to write this song to share our experience on the process.

The chorus of the song says:
“What’s the cost of freedom these days?
Only truth will show.
And the only way to find the path
is to unlearn what you know.”

In order to get free, you have to renew your mind. And in order to renew your mind, you have to repent and allow your mind to be retaught—unlearning a lot of things about how you view yourself, the world, life, and even preconceived notions about the Lord. You have to be willing to change and grow.

Freedom has a cost, and only Jesus can show you what’s true. Jesus is the truth.
