The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service-members and veterans.

Today carries two reminders of a promise we make as Americans and as Legionnaires:
We do not forget.
RED Friday — Remember Everyone Deployed
Today we wear red for the men and women serving far from home — those standing watch, answering the call, and carrying out their missions while their families wait for their safe return.
National POW/MIA Recognition Day — You Are Not Forgotten
We also pause to honor America’s prisoners of war and those still missing in action. We remember their sacrifice. We remember the families who have lived with unanswered questions. And we reaffirm a promise that has endured across generations:
You Are Not Forgotten.
From those serving around the world today to those who have yet to make the journey home, our responsibility remains the same.
Remember them.
Honor them.
Say their names.
Tell their stories.
Bring them home.
Today, wear RED.
Today, take a moment at the POW/MIA table.
Today, look at that empty chair and remember who it represents.
Because remembrance isn’t something we simply observe on a calendar.
It’s a promise we keep.

We were fortunate to participate in the Nation of Patriots Tour this weekend. We received the flag on Friday at the Legion in Belgrade from HOG members and CVMA out of Missoula. On Saturday, we carried the flag to Park City, MT and handed it off to the Laurel Chapter of the Legion Riders.
