Blushing Hillside Farm

Our hillside was once the epicenter of a thriving farm. We are working on filling it full of flowers, veggies, animals, family, and love.

The view is beautiful, songbirds a plenty, and the passion is overflowing. We are located in Floyd, Arkansas.

When I was asked to do the flowers for a baby shower in this color scheme I was straight up weak in the knees. Because, GORGEOUS!!!

My house smells like pine, as do I and the little florist helpers and I wouldn’t have it any different. 🤍🤍🤍

Buckling in for another 7-10 days of 100+ degree heat and I can tell you the flowers & Veggies aren’t ready for it, the electric bill or the water bill, and certainly not my outdoor loving babes either. This Midwesty girl was not made for this heat, and all these heat waves this summer has just reconfirmed that I’m ’anything but summer’ kinda gal. Butttt the summer flowers are sure pretty! 🍁❄️🌱

When I was little I used to pick the little florets off my Momma’s Snapdragons so they could be my Barbie slippers. I smile every time I cut a bunch as my mind goes to the simplicity and joy and hard work(farmers daughter here 🙋‍♀️) that compromised my summers as a child. I will always be thankful for the way my parents raised me. Quirks & all, it’s made me, well me!

My garden is filling up with zinnias, rudbeckia, Veronica, foxglove, lilies, roses, gomphrena, cosmos, bachelor buttons…. The list goes on! if you need a bouquet you just let me know. They go with our fresh chicken eggs quite nicely. 😉

The small details on each flower never cease to amaze me. How intricate and beautiful they all are! Some foxglove, bachelor buttons, and Veronica to enjoy tonight.

Oh, Foxglove. Only did a handful of them this year to see how’d they do for me and how I like them in bouquets. Mentally noted to start as much as possible this fall because I’m IN LOVE. We are hopefully redoing the exterior of our house this year(🤞BUH BYE GROSS RED/BURGUNDY) which means I can finally redo all the flower beds around the house and there WILL be some of these beauties in the mix. Simply stunning.

My flowers are slowly starting to come alive and it’s filling my soul(and nose) right up!

I invested in some peonies last fall and OH. MY. GOSH. I need more. Like ALL of them! 🤍🤍🤍

I have to tell you a secret…. I’m NOT a Tulip lover OR a red lover. *GASP* Give me some daffodils or snaps though? In love. But these double tulips may win me over yet. Look at all those petals!! The flowers are slow this year, my ability to get more planted is so too. They are coming along though and I’m so excited to share the beauty of them all!!

I made an arrangement for our simple Easter lunch today. It’s one of my favorites with all the budding tree cuttings in it. Rather wild & free. But what brought me to tears? The wonderful simplicity of Brooker boy. He wanted this pretty little tulip with its too short stem to have its own little vase and his wooden carrot next to it to boot. 🤍

This. This I want to remember. To take the time to view the world through the eyes of a child and see the beauty & value & creativity.

Happy Easter everyone!!! 🐣✝️🌅
