My business Instagram and Facebook has been pretty quiet lately.  I recently developed a strained relationship with social media.  Just over a month ago I lost a family member to a surgery complication.  It has been a tough season for my family, and every time I got on social media it felt "fake" to me.  I just couldn't fake it anymore because I was SAD. It all just felt like it took too much energy so I took a break.  But over the last few weeks as I went through old family photos, I was reminded why photography matters.  Capturing authentic images of the people we love is important work.  Those photos are a gift that will always remind us of our loved ones.  So don't forget to be in photos with the people you love.  Hire a professional.  Set up a tripod.  Take a selfie.

I would add photographer gift certificates to this list... :)

Little kids don't scare me as a photographer.  In fact... I adore them and they are probably my favorite thing to photograph.  These little cousins are all five years old and younger.  It may feel daunting to get decent images of that many small children together, but you have to remember that it just takes one fleeting moment to get the shot.  Someone could be crying the other 95% of the time.  Don't let that stress you out.... just trust me.

Last year Chloe and Josh had to change their wedding plans due to the pandemic.  Unfortunately, their small elopement was further marred by the horrible wildfires ripping through Oregon, and the day of their wedding their reception dinner venue was forced to close due to smoke and fire.  Thankfully they were able to find a dinner alternative that same day.  But these two never lost focus on what was important... being together and being married.  A year later these two FINALLY got to celebrate surrounded by all their friends and family and I couldn't be happier to be able to capture the celebration.

Apparently today is this senior's birthday and he is officially an 18-year old adult! Happy birthday Luke! Hope it is a wonderful day!

I was SO excited to photograph this senior's photos. She really wanted to some shots that were a little more urban in downtown Beaverton. And she also wanted to incorporate her passion for volleyball! As a volleyball mom myself, this was right up my alley. I love the diversity of shots we got... and these are just a small sample of them!

Lisa and Jonathan have a beautiful story. They first met 24 years ago on a church trip to the Czech Republic. They parted as friends and each traveled through their own journey of growth and self discovery through the years. Then in 2021 they reconnected and sparks flew. Surrounded by the prayers and support of their friends and family they finally sealed the deal last weekend with a wedding and a gorgeous farm to table reception. Theirs is a love built on mutual respect and faith, and I am so excited that they are able to venture into this next chapter of life together!

Meet Tadashi.  This sweet little man hung out at my studio today.  The second I took this photo I knew I was going to love it.  There's something about his tiny little body in his daddy's big strong hands that pretty much melts my heart.  Welcome to the world Tadashi!  May you change the world with your kindness, knowledge, and achievements!
