Lake town rebuilt after wildfires - but locals distraught by makeover 11/25/2025

We have spent the last 5 years helping rebuild Detroit. Now we are trying help rebuild the businesses that would return the Town to a more normal state. Although all involved have continually assured us that they want businesses to come back, their actions show otherwise. We’ve spent the last 2 years trying to get even a single maintenance building approved so we can rebuild the other buildings.

We’ve been dragged through excessive processes, city internal politics tied with personal interests, poor communication, and our clients being charged fees at every turn.

I Just wanted to put the truth about what’s going on out there. Nw Rebuild Project met The Wardens in early 2021 and designed their home, gave it a better layout, and in such was able to add a few sq ft for the grandkids. That home was designed to keep generations of Warden Family in the community they’ve been in for 50 years. The home is spacious yet efficient, and maintains the quaint look that Detroit is supposed to have.

I remember Michelle’s call to tell me before they did it that they would have to put the home they worked so hard for and loved so much on the market. It broke my heart as much as it did hers. This is the result of poor planning. Emptiness
