After our team meeting with Kaiser Account Manager, Kodi D. Howard, and Abby, the Leader of PDX INS Positive Impact Team, Kodi shared some wise words with us.
Kodi spoke about the value we can bring to one another. As women, sometimes we can be the hardest on ourselves and each other. She reminded us of the importance of celebrating a colleague's accomplishment and lifting our team when facing hard times.
While she didn’t have formal mentors after college, she appreciated the opportunities to share mentorship with the folks that built her team.
Feeling excited and grateful to be surrounded by inspirational thought leaders.
Thank you, Kodi!

On behalf of PDX INS, Abby attended the Wildlife Legacy Luncheon, where she met Zookeeper Dave Thomas and Jason Miles, the person going to Malaysia with Oregon Zoo Scientist, Dr. Sharon Glaeser as an elephant keeper.
Dr. Sharon Glaeser talked about the trip to Sabah/Borneo, Malaysia, and shared valuable information about the Orang-utangs, Elephants, and Palm Oil in that region.
Here are Abby's top takeaways from the luncheon
✨ Collective actions have big impacts.
✨ We need to focus on coexisting efforts - ways for people and wildlife to coexist peacefully in or out of protected areas.
✨ Care and conservation of species require an understanding of the complexity of the issues.
Make sure you visit Jason at the Oregon Zoo where he takes care of our herd! 🐘

Many of us exercise to keep our bodies in shape, play sports, lift weights, go for walks, and go to the gym, knowing it takes time and effort to achieve the physical results we desire. The same is true with mental fitness work. The more we exercise our brains, creating neural pathways that did not exist before, the more we are likely to achieve the outcomes we seek.
Join us on Monday, October 17th at 12:00 PST for a 30-minute conversation about and learn how mental fitness can help you build powerful habits for a positive mind.

October is Emotional Wellness Month 🧘🏻♀️
With hectic schedules, devices ringing, and life becoming uncertain, it’s crucial to maintain a sense of calm and balance.
Since stress can lead to physical complications, I invite you to disconnect and take time out for your mental fitness. Maintaining a healthy emotional balance helps us make healthy choices, have good relationships, stay motivated and achieve goals.
When feeling anxious or stressed out, consider:
🧖🏼♀️ Making time for self-care
🚶🏽♂️ Taking a walk outside

What steps are you taking to feel calmed and balanced this month?

✨ Big News ✨
I'm thrilled to share that I have been accepted as a 2022 Woman of the Year nominee by WIFS Portland Metro - Women in Insurance & Financial Services , where I have been a member since 2009.
WIFS attracted me during a career transition due to the market crash in 2008. I found Women in Insurance and Financial Services to be a breath of fresh air and a place of community.
Since joining, I have surrounded myself with other successful women in similar industries. It is fun and rewarding to collaborate with a community of leaders who shine bright.
I also want to congratulate all the fantastic women nominated alongside me: Alanah Phillips, Amber Stitt , Angela Ribuffo, Betty W. Lee, Bobbie Barbera, Lisa Sappenfiled Boyer and, Mary McDirmid. The winner will be announced at the Awards and Accolades Luncheon this Friday, September 30th.
