Two dogs.
Different shelters.
Same beginning.
Cowboy and Mash were found trying to survive in Compton—and somehow ended up separated.
What happened next reminded us that rescue doesn’t start with perfect dogs.
It starts with giving dogs a chance.

Today we are paying tribute to Hachiko who we recently were notified has sadly passed away. Kari adopted Hachiko in Feb 2022. Hachiko was not your ordinary easy dog that everyone wanted. Actually no one wanted him, nor could just anyone manage his behaviors. However, Kari saw what we saw in Hachiko, and it was a match made in heaven.

"We have told him that this is his home and we are his people now, he will never be abandoned again. He will believe in time. He does not let us out of his sight and we sure understand". Rocky is adopted, and we couldn't be happier!

Valentine might secretly be the perfect GSP mix 💕
Young. Smart. Athletic. Loves attention.
But she does need the same level of exercise as your typical German Shorthaired Pointer!
At just over 1 year old, she looks forward to walks, hikes, and adventures.
But mostly… she wants her person.
And maybe they missed her first post.
Help them find her.

His owner passed away.
Dutch ended up in a remote shelter.
But that isn’t where his story ends.
Meet Dutch—an 11-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer who still wants to play, still loves people, and still believes good things are ahead.

"I would encourage people to really take a look at a senior dog as they are so special and offer so much love and happiness in return. We are grateful to have them as much as they are to have us". Axel is adopted!

WHY WAS THIS DOG AT THE SHELTER?
That was our reaction, too.
The message arrived: Ziggy, a young German Shorthaired Pointer, barely a year into his story, was waiting.
There was no clear reason, no shadow of trouble following him.
No major concerns.
And then, we met him.
Tail wagging. Smart. Playful. Ready.
Some dogs arrive with tangled stories, and others it’s clearer.
But Ziggy left us questioning “why?”

Bear, a GSP mix was adopted in 2022, and became known as "The Bear". We recently received the sad news that The Bear has passed away.
It is our privilege as a rescue to work with such wonderful and thoughtful adopters. We know that “The Bear” could have not be in better hands than theirs, and they gave him a great life.
You can read The Bear's tribute here. https://www.gsp-rescue.org/gspr-news/in-loving-memory-of-the-bear
