Well… this was yesterday morning’s almost-crime 🐾🍽️

Maura spotted what she assumed was a mobile breakfast burrito in the field and went full National Geographic.

The cute opposum, however, chose confidence over cardio and stood there like,
“Go ahead. I’ve got rabies energy and a dental plan.” (Maura doesn't know the real truth about possums😉)

I sprinted. I yelled. Heart pounding.
Maura skidded to a halt.

The opossum stared into our souls. Even advanced TOWARD Maura (smart move) as if to say, "Listen, lady, it's been a long night out here in the field and I am in no mood for games."

Whew! No dogs were harmed.
No marsupials were harmed.

Only Maura’s pride took a hit!

I wish I had some closer pictures because he/she was so cute just sitting there in the middle of the field but every time I got closer Maura got back on the scent and I had to chase her off. What can I say, she's a lab.🤷‍♀️
