We're excited to share that our year-long collaboration with โmade possible through the grantโis ๐ผ๐ณ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ ๐น๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐น๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ป๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ!
In March 2025, NYFIC awarded our collaboration proposal with Seed2Shirt, a member of the Climate Beneficial Fiber Alliance, to develop a yarn blending our NYS Climate Beneficialโข wool and alpaca with upland cotton from Black-owned farms in Seed2Shirt's Climate Beneficialโข network.
Through this collaboration, we created woven yardage and two knit pieces that ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐ป๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ก๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ด๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐๐๐๐ฒ๐บ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐ผ๐๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป ๐ฐ๐ผ๐๐๐ผ๐ป ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐น๐โsupporting ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ด๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฐ๐๐น๐๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ while helping ๐ฏ๐๐ถ๐น๐ฑ ๐ฎ ๐บ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ฒ๐พ๐๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฝ๐ฝ๐น๐ ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป in both regions.
The fiber blend: 25% NYS Wool, 25% NYS Alpaca, 50% Upland Cotton.
This is a lighter, transitional-weight yarn designed to bridge seasons: breathable from the cotton, with warmth and gentle loft from the wool and alpaca. Itโs made to feel substantial without being heavyโideal for everyday wear from early fall through late spring.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who played a role in bringing this collaboration to life!
Thereโs nothing quite like cozying up in soft, warm layers that keep you comfortable all season long. And it's even sweeter to know that when you wear our knits you're supporting small businesses and locally grown wool ๐ซถ

Our friends are organizing this beautiful Gathered Workshop Series. This is a wonderful way to connect people to natural systems and encourage collective making. For more information go to
About the workshop series: โ
The Gathered Workshop series is a monthly creative workshop where, each session, we explore new ways to observe our surroundings and uncover inspiration in the materials already around us.
Together, weโll investigate what can be gathered from our natural environment, such as: waste materials, found objects, local techniques, and learn new practices from the people in our community, to create independently and intentionally. The series highlights that meaningful creation doesnโt require extensive resources or reaching beyond our immediate environment; instead, we can make powerful work by embracing what we already have.

This week, Rachel Witte featured our collaboration with in a beautifully comprehensive piece on the website.
After the mill we had long partnered with closed its doors, we sought, and ultimately found a true alignment of vision, values, and practice with American Woolen, the historic Connecticut mill renowned for its luxury woven fabrics. They stepped in at a pivotal moment and expertly spun our regional, climate-beneficial 50/50 woolโalpaca blend yarn.
The article touches upon the challenges weโre facing in creating our regional midscale manufacturing infrastructure, and highlights how this collaboration demonstrates that with the right partners, it is possible to keep fiber processing local, maintain rigorous quality standards, and invest in a soil-to-soil system that supports farms, mills, designers, and the land itself.
Many thanks to Rachel Witte, and for telling this story. Much gratitude to Jacob Long, and for their ongoing partnership in building a resilient regional textile economy. Lastly, we have great appreciation for the brands in our Carbon Farm Network for their ongoing commitment to supporting regional, regenerative fiber systems.

The three pillars of the Carbon Farm Network.
The fashion industry tends to reward excessive production, and to keep extractive practices far from the eyes of consumers and even from designers. The ๐๐๐ซ๐๐จ๐ง ๐
๐๐ซ๐ฆ ๐๐๐ญ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค, and the way we structure our cooperative, is the exact opposite. We want to highlight and collaborate directly with our growers. We want to know who is growing, processing, and creating our yarn.
We donโt reward overproduction for the sake of lower prices. Instead, we work cooperatively to reach production minimums and to distribute costs according to each brandโs production needs.
Together, we create a regional system for sensible production - producing high-quality, local, traceable, Climate Beneficialโข Verified yarn.
