15 YEARS TODAY | I released my first album SUPERNOVA. MARCH 1, 2011

What an era…

This was the beginning of TRE COSMOS

I remember back in 8th Grade (circa 2003), I began a fascination for astronomy and understanding the stars God created. There was this moment where I discovered the word supernova, and from there I fantasized what an album from me would sound like, I already had the name.

Supernova - the colossal, luminous explosion marking the violent death of a massive star. As the largest explosions in the universe, they briefly outshine entire galaxies, releasing vast amounts of energy and scattering heavy elements across space. (Merriam-Webster)

This album took me my entire 20 years of life to create. It’s the story of how the old me died and I became a whole new being, named TRE. I wrote and produced all of the songs, worked with good friends to make the vision come to life in not only music form but in artwork.

When I listen back, this album is no where near my “best” work. I was an amateur, self taught, didn’t know the “rules” so I broke a few, didn’t know industry standards. All I knew was these sounds in my head I needed the world to hear. And this was the birth of that, the birth of him, the other me—TRE COSMOS.

Bri Will wanted a record that would become an ode to black men. Every word we wrote was intentionally crafted to do just that. I wanted to match that message with musical composition that would last the test of time.
