Flutter Bayou

Hey guys! Just jumping on to say, I am still here, give some life updates, and share baking news. 🤪 It has been an absolutely insane few months. In October I quit my job after 19 years and in December they Godfathered me (every time I get out, they pull me back in). However, I didn’t just go back to work - I went back to a much bigger, more stressful role that has caused me to be MIA for a bit.

I had to choose where to be present and what to put on the back burner. So family and church have gotten all my available attention and baking and the Bluebird had to take the back burner.

Because of that, I chose to close out my space at the Bluebird. It’s not fair to Carla and other vendors for me to be absent from taking care of my spot, which I have been.

That said, for the first time since Christmas I am baking this week!! Just a small batch of preorder bread. I’m trying to see where I can start fitting that back in so if you need baked goods, ping me!

Also, I wanted to share that over the years I’ve written a multitude of stories for my kids, as well as all the curriculum I use for Kids’ Church, and have been working on illustrating them over the past several months and this week they were published and are available on Amazon!! The first two stories and the first in a series of Kids’ Church curriculum!! If you are looking for fun stories to read at bedtime, be sure you check them out!! Screenshot of them in the comments (note - I am apparently not the only Nicole Barksdale with books on Amazon. These 3 are the only ones that are mine, so far).

Made these super gigantic sourdough blueberry muffins for breakfast, yesterday. Oh man. They are SO good!!! 🤤🤤🤤

Today’s test kitchen recipe is sourdough cornbread dressing with chorizo! It smells incredible!

Made this cider-brined roasted chicken for dinner tonight. Oh. My. Lanta. It was unreal!!! Gotta figure out how to bring this to Flutter Bayou!
