Today, we proudly honored several outstanding educators and staff members at Appling County Middle School for their years of dedication and service to our students and school community.

Recognized during today’s celebration were our 2026 retirees:

We also recognized Mrs. Lacey Hunter as she prepares for her transition to Appling County High School as receptionist.

Dr. Campbell, principal of ACMS, presented each honoree with a gift and shared heartfelt (and humorous) words of appreciation and farewell in recognition of the lasting impact they have made on Appling County Middle School throughout the years.

Thank you for your dedication, compassion, and commitment to our students and school family. Your influence will continue to be felt for years to come. We wish our retirees a joyful retirement and Mrs. Hunter continued success in her new role!

Yesterday, we celebrated an incredible milestone for a truly remarkable educator. After 38 years of dedicated service at Appling County Middle School, Mrs. Karen Swain is beginning a well-deserved retirement!

Family, friends, and coworkers gathered at Tequilla's to honor her years of commitment, compassion, and impact on countless lives. Her legacy at ACMS will continue through the many students and educators she inspired along the way.

Thank you, Mrs. Swain, for 38 amazing years of service, leadership, and love for your school community. We wish you endless joy, relaxation, and new adventures in retirement!

Today, Appling County Middle School faculty and staff celebrated Brandon & Allison Morley with a sweet baby shower as they begin to prepare to welcome their precious baby girl! Everyone enjoyed a wonderful morning filled with love, laughter, and adorable golf-themed decorations to honor the growing Morley family. Thank you to everyone who helped make today so special!

Third Annual Sixth Grade Kickball Tournament: What a Way to Wrap Up the School Year!

This is hands down our favorite day of the year! The whole 6th grade hall came together for our 3rd Annual Kickball Tournament on Thursday, May 21st, and it was a blast. It was hot, loud, and full of fun—lots of cheering, laughing, dancing, and sweating right along with our teams. Congratulations to our champions, The Kicktastic Crew!

It is safe to say, everyone had an amazing time and probably slept very well last night! 😄

💧Water Pollution Lab in Action! 🌎

Mrs. Rentz’s 6th grade Earth Science students have been diving into the world of hydrology and discovering how human actions can impact our water sources.

During a hands-on lab, students were challenged to clean “polluted” water while working within a set budget. The activity opened their eyes to an important lesson: preventing pollution is much easier, and far less expensive, than trying to fix it after the damage is done.

From problem-solving to teamwork, these young scientists gained a deeper understanding of the importance of protecting our water and making responsible choices for the environment.

Students in Ms. Eve's and Mrs. Crosby's classes celebrated the end of a fantastic school year with fun, creativity, and a sweet treat. Festivities included a colorful tie-dye activity perfect for showing off their unique style and a refreshing ice cream party to cool down and celebrate their hard work. Everyone enjoyed the chance to relax, have fun with friends, and make lasting memories as we kick off summer together!

Yesterday, May 21st, we celebrated two incredible educators at a special retirement brunch at Appling County Middle School!

“Thanks a Brunch” to Mrs. Dana Rentz and Mr. Nick Mathews for their years of dedication, leadership, and love poured into our seventh grade students. Your impact on our school and community will be felt for years to come.

Congratulations on your retirement, Mrs. Rentz and Mr. Mathews! We wish you both joy, relaxation, and new adventures in this exciting next chapter. (Also, congratulations to Mrs. Karen Swain on her retirement. We will be celebrating her achievement next week!)

Yesterday, May 21st, we celebrated a special milestone at Appling County Middle School as our 8th Grade Walk marked the beginning of a new chapter for the Class of 2030!

With proud parents lining the bus circle, teachers smiling through happy tears, and students in sixth and seventh grade cheering them on, our 8th graders took one final walk through the halls of ACMS before heading toward their future at Appling County High School. We are so proud of the hard work, growth, and memories these students have made during their time at ACMS, and we cannot wait to see all they accomplish in high school.

Congratulations, 8th graders — your future is bright, and the Pirate Nation is cheering you on every step of the way!
