Providing end-of-life care and support at home or in a homelike setting to patients and their loved ones.
Meet Oliver, a sweet 13-year-old cat searching for a loving new home.
Oliver has been with his owner his entire life, but is now ready to transition to a new forever home. Through our partnership with the Pet Peace of Mind® program, we help ensure beloved pets like Oliver continue to receive the love and companionship they deserve.
Oliver is neutered, has lived indoors his entire life, and is known for his gentle, affectionate personality. He enjoys being around people and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking to open their heart and home to a senior pet.
If you are interested in giving Oliver a forever home, please contact Holly Taylor at [email protected]
When is it time for hospice care? Many families wait until a health crisis to begin hospice care—but earlier support can make a meaningful difference.
A referral to The Hospice of Baton Rouge may be appropriate when a patient is experiencing a decline in health, frequent hospitalizations, increased symptoms, or a shift toward comfort-focused care.
Hospice is not about giving up—it’s about ensuring comfort, dignity, and quality of life for patients and support for the families who love them. Referrals can be made by physicians, hospitals, patients, or family members. Learn more or submit a referral at hospicebr.org/Referrals

This National CNA Week, we celebrate the compassionate Certified Nursing Assistants who make an extraordinary difference in the lives of our patients and families every day.
CNAs are often the familiar faces offering comfort, dignity, and support during some of life's most vulnerable moments. Whether assisting with personal care, providing companionship, or simply offering a reassuring presence, their dedication helps ensure every patient receives care with compassion and respect.
To our incredible CNA team: thank you for the kindness, patience, and heart you bring to your work. Your commitment to caring for others leaves a lasting impact on the patients, families, and colleagues you serve.
Happy National CNA Week from all of us at The Hospice of Baton Rouge!

When families begin exploring hospice care, it can feel overwhelming to know where to start or what questions to ask.
At The Hospice of Baton Rouge, we encourage families to begin with a few key considerations:
What services are included in hospice care?
How is pain and symptom management handled?
Who makes up the care team?
How often will visits occur, and where is care provided?
What support is available for family caregivers?
How are after-hours needs and emergencies managed?
Asking these questions can help clarify what to expect and ensure care aligns with your loved one’s needs and goals.
Our team is here to guide you through each step with clarity, compassion, and support.

Camp Conquer: KIDS has officially come to a close—and what a meaningful experience it was!
From shared stories and creative activities to moments of connection, reflection, and support, this year’s camp brought together individuals navigating grief in a space built for healing and understanding.
We are grateful for every participant, facilitator, and volunteer who helped make Camp Conquer: Kids a place where grief and joy could exist side by side—and where lives were truly impacted.
Thank you for being part of it. We look forward to Camp Conquer: Teen coming up!
Meet Taryn and her mother, Devon, as they share their family’s journey with hospice care through The Hospice of Baton Rouge. Hospice care is specialized support focused on comfort, dignity, and quality of life for individuals facing terminal illness.
For pediatric patients (anyone under 21), hospice care can be provided alongside curative treatments—families do not have to choose between hospice and ongoing medical care. Parents can continue pursuing curative or disease-directed therapies while hospice supports symptom management, emotional care, and quality of life throughout the journey.
Learn more about Taryn’s brave journey and her family’s love, strength, and dedication in this special video.
Wonderful day of Hope and Healing at Camp Conquer 💙

Behind every patient is often a caregiver providing comfort, support, advocacy, and love—often without recognition.
Whether managing medications, attending appointments, offering reassurance, or simply being present, caregivers play an essential role in the journey of serious illness.
At The Hospice of Baton Rouge, we know caregiving can be both meaningful and challenging. That’s why we’re committed to supporting not only our patients, but the family members and loved ones who care for them every day.
This month, we honor caregivers throughout our community and thank them for the compassion, strength, and dedication they bring to those they love. Your care makes a difference.
In addition, The Retreat at Quarters Lake offers the Compassionate Caregivers: Virtual Peer Support Group, the last Monday of each month. Learn more or sign up at Retreatbr.org

At The Hospice of Baton Rouge, we recognize that grief and emotional strain don’t always look the same—especially for men, who are often expected to carry it quietly.
In honor of Men’s Mental Health Month, we’re highlighting Fathers Beyond the Silence, a support group at The Retreat at Quarters Lake created BY a father FOR fathers navigating grief, loss and life’s most difficult transitions.
Facilitated by Randall Dunn and offered in partnership with The Med Foundation and the Grieving Dads Project, this group provides compassionate peer support for fathers in our community—creating space for honest conversation, shared experience, and connection.
Support doesn’t have to be silent. Sometimes healing begins simply by showing up.
