Elite Baseball Development in the Baton Rouge Area
12/09/2025
There’s a long running debate in baseball player development about how much pitchers should actually lift and I’m seeing it a lot lately. The real question IMO is how strong is strong enough to enhance pitching performance & health. It’s an old discussion in strength and conditioning, and the research is still evolving. I haven’t reached a definitive conclusion, but my working hypothesis is that pitchers reach the point of “strong enough” much earlier than most people think. More research is needed, and this infographic breaks down some of the ideas behind that conversation.
It's important to use data to determine when to push for velocity and when to rest. When subjective and objective data align, it's a good time to push. But when both indicate fatigue, rest is needed. Many in baseball don't follow the data as closely as they should.

is one of the most projectable arms in this upcoming draft class. Do I have a bro crush on him and would I let him date my future daughter? The answer to both of those questions is a resounding yes, but that’s not the point. Sitting 88–91 mph (topping 92) with his fastball, his frame, athleticism, and explosiveness make it clear there’s no doubt in my mind he’ll be living in the upper 90s in the near future.
At 6’4”, 208 pounds, Cayden has the size, strength, and delivery that pro organizations look for. He’s currently sharpening a plus slider and a splitter with real swing and miss potential, a combination that will play at the next level.
What Separates Cayden Hill?
✔ Explosiveness off the charts – 34.5” vertical jump height and peak ground reaction force of 2,300 N, putting him well into the elite range for pitchers his size.
✔ Elite rotational power – measured 116% explosiveness score, showing rare ability to transfer force through his delivery.
✔ Strong functionality and mobility – 72% functionality with nearly 260° of total ROM, giving him the freedom of movement to develop multiple elite pitches.
✔ Lower body dominance – peak RFD over 6,800 N/s, showing the raw lower-half power that translates directly into velocity gains.
✔ High character, relentless worker – the type of athlete every coach wants in their program.
With these tools, there’s no doubt Cayden is going to continue trending into the upper 90s. I fully expect to see him in the big leagues down the road. Coaches and scouts should keep this name on your radar now before the rest of the baseball world catches on
