π Baton Rouge is mourning the loss of a longtime local figure many residents knew simply by hearing his voice.
Troy Carter, the longtime manager of Chicken Shack on North Acadian, has died after dedicating more than 46 years to the restaurant. Over the decades, Carter became a familiar part of life for countless Baton Rouge residents through his upbeat personality, customer service, and the iconic phone messages that generations of customers remember hearing when calling the restaurant.
For many locals, his voice became just as recognizable as the restaurant itself.
Chicken Shack announced his passing Monday and described Carter as someone who would be deeply missed by both employees and customers. Community members quickly filled social media with memories, condolences, and stories about the impact he had over the years.
After nearly five decades at one of Baton Rougeβs most recognizable restaurants, Carter leaves behind a legacy that longtime customers say wonβt be forgotten anytime soon.
β€οΈ Prayers for his family, friends, coworkers, and the entire Chicken Shack community.
