Can y’all believe I’ve been a doula for FIVE years??? 🥰🥳💜
I attended the first birth in a year and a half the other day! Woah! 🤯 It’s crazy that it’s been so long, yet I still have the same posture of not taking for granted the intimacy that I get to share with my clients, the long-term relationships we build, and the support I’m able to wholeheartedly give to families! It’s always a bonus that I get to literally witness the beginning of life after birth, as I absolutely love babies!
In this case, I welcomed nephew number three and was my client’s (sister’s) doula for a third time. What an honor! She was such a pro, so honestly I didn’t do much work at all this time around. Cheers to the shortest labor and delivery I’ve ever been a part of and the birth of not only a new baby, but a new business for my sister () and as soon Veri the Doula Birth Services will be rebranded to The Doula Sisters where we’ll both continue supporting families in Baton Rouge and surrounding areas!
Finally, I just want to say thank you to each of you for your support of “Veri the Doula”! I’m not quite certified yet, as my sabbatical caused me to be a bit delayed and have to attend a few of more births (cheers to 1/3) to complete finish it by May 2023. But I’m working to complete what God led me to start certifying for in 2019. I’ve always worn many hats in life, so I’m grateful to have such amazing support when I’m wearing my doula hat. I know this will probably be one of my last posts before the rebrand comes soon (happy tears 😭🥲), but I truly want each of you to know that I don’t take for granted how you’ve supported and walked with me (and now us) on this journey (sabbatical and all)! So, THANK YOU!!! 💜
More exciting news coming soon, but for now we are happily welcoming new clients with due dates through December 2022!!!

The most recent birth I supported was very different from the previous ones, but it definitely went down as one of my all time favorites! 🥰 Why? It allowed me to support a family in ways I hadn’t previously. Because the little fella came a bit sooner than expected, myself and my clients were scrambling a bit in our trip to the hospital, not to mention Covid-19 restrictions were at an all time high.
The birthing experience allowed me to transition from birth doula to postpartum doula in a more seamless way than I had before. Running errands for my clients and ensuring they had all they needed during their hospital stay was more than just a task for me, it was a rewarding responsibility.
The entire experience was a reminder that “I GET TO DO THIS!” I get to support families not only in pregnancy, childbirth planning and childbirth, but postpartum, too. All of which are gifts that I’ll never take for granted. 💜
I’m already looking forward the next ones! 🥳

A beautiful baby boy was born this morning and we celebrated his birth being my third (of three) required certifying births for DONA International!!! 🥳💜
If this year has taught me anything, it’s taught me:
1) Not to take for granted any opportunity that I get to support families during pregnancy and childbirth - it’s literally the sweetest joy,
2) To stay ready so I don’t have to get ready (in childbirth and more),
3) And to be joyful even in times of change and uncertainty!!!
It brings me such pleasure to serve others, especially when they have as much love and joy in their hearts as the family I supported today!
Though my journey to certification isn’t quite over yet, I’m excited for all that is to come in 2021!!! -Love, “Veri the Doula”

Last year, at the Community Baby Shower, three of my clients received hundreds of diapers and tons of resources! This year, the event is drive thru, but I’m sure it’ll be just as fabulous! Share with all expecting families in Baton Rouge! Woman's Hospital The Safety Place - Safety & Injury Prevention 🥳💜

Happy Birthday to me! 🥳💜 My mom spent time telling me about my birth this morning and boy what a difficult one it was and it made me even more grateful to be alive. And it brings me joy to know that 27 years later I work to help other women have better birth outcomes! Everything is full circle! 💛

To the daddies, thank you for being wonderful partners in birth! ☺️ It is truly a beautiful sight to see men cry in happiness, leap for joy, fall to their knees in thanks and smile from ear to ear at the sight of their baby’s birth! I am grateful that I get to support your growing families and I hope you all have the best day ever!!! 💜
