Louisiana's National Merit semifinalists announced, Baton Rouge Magnet leads state The semifinalists are now in the running for about 6,700 National Merit scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be offered in the spring.

Congratulations to Baton Rouge Magnet High School on an outstanding showing at the 2026 Film Prize Junior Awards Festival in Shreveport.
The school showcased four student films, with three earning top honors:
🏅 High School Best Documentary: “Echoes In The Classroom”
🏅 High School Best Thriller: “STAR”
🏅 Audience Choice Best High School Film: “Movement Of Rhythm." This award includes a $1,500 equipment grant, a $250 award for the sponsoring teacher and $500 for a student celebration.
This year's festival featured 115 student films from 64 schools across Louisiana, with more than $15,000 in prizes awarded.
