Does it take you a full day to switch over to vacation mode? Ummm, it definitely does for me. When people make comments about how long and annoying the actual travel part of traveling is, I donβt really relate. Travel time for me is the ultimate buffer from work and daily life to βvacation modeβ.
Last weekend Jay and I jumped on a plane(well, 3 actually) and headed up to visit my biz bestie, , and her hubs, Marc. It was my first time in the air since September 2019 and the plane rides alone were worth every penny. Putting physical distance between yourself and the ground, much less your daily routine, is certainly freeing. We came back with cheeks sore from laughing and a couple of bruises that you can hear all about in my weekly email. (Head to the link in my bio to jump on my email list if you donβt want to miss those ridiculous details.)
Where's the last place you traveled? Does it take you some time to switch over to vacation mode?

Here's to the fact that you can create something out of absolutely nothing!
In the beginning of 2019 I started to feel a pull to do something. Something more, something different. I wasn't exactly sure what that was but I was feeling inspired. π‘
I started jotting ideas in my blue notebook with a π¦ on the cover. I was doing a lot of listening to (still do). Gary kept pushing doing one of those dang podcasts and he made a lot of sense. Maybe he just wore me down with repetition. π
In February of 2019, at one of our frequent lunches and I talked about how we were both feeling. We talked about a lot of different things we could do to add to our professional lives and satisfy that pull to do more. I even mentioned I was considering podcasting. ποΈ
Fast forward to April and a random Wednesday morning and I get a text from Alissa saying would you want to podcast together? Umm, you bet your ass I would! That moment was the birth of .
Sometimes it feels surreal to have created something so special with its own wonderful community out of what seems like nothing. Honestly, it wasn't born out of nothing. It was born out of those feelings that we each wanted to do more and a true friendship. π₯°
I am beyond lucky to have found someone I never get tired of talking to even after over 90 episodes. π These really aren't just mugs and shirts in a store to me. They are symbols of a friendship and that you can create something out of nothing at any moment.
If you want to celebrate friendship, possibilities, real estate, and the show, head over to hustlehumblypodcast.store. πποΈπ

"How to create 100 leads per day" showed up in my inbox this week.
That's gonna be a NOPE for me dog.
BUT it did make me think after I got over my initial sadness and nausea.
My first thought was there are some new and struggling agents that are probably going to click this link and take this class. *Que sadness.* My second thought was thank God I'm not one of them.
Yes, I am blessed to be 15 years deep in a career that builds momentum over time. I get that. And, yes, there was a time early in my career that I would do just about anything to be successful. BUT I have learned that we don't need to collect up "leads" in order to have a solid real estate business.
Do you know what kind of leads you are getting if you need 100 of them a day to be successful? Crappy ones. The kind that turn at 5% or less, so it takes A LOT of them to get just a few sales. And honestly I have no desire to build a business based on quantity over quality. In no world do I want the stress and responsibility of reaching out to and following up with 100 leads per day. Talk about sucking the joy out of a career that can actually be extremely fun and fulfilling. I'm not here to collect warm bodies/email addresses. I'm here to provide a SERVICE. And, believe me, there is no way I can provide high level service to 100 leads a day. Of course, I won't have to, because most of those "leads" will ignore you like the plague.
So what's the point? Treat your business like a service and not a lead machine. Treat people like people and not a paycheck. Build relationships. Provide actual high level service when someone does work with you. It's not hard. It is actually quite fun and fulfilling. AND it will build a sustainable business that isn't based on chasing down the next lead and new shiny thing.

It's the final countdown...
Yesterday Ainsley and I made a paper chain to count down the remaining school days this year.
There are 29 days of school left. ππ€― How did this happen??? And what does this mean for me?
I love that the chain is right outside of my office and I'll see it every morning when I start my work day. It is a reminder for me that in 29 biz days my focus needs to shift from work to family and fun. It is a reminder to be intentional with my time and stay vigilant on my productivity for the next 29 days. It is a reminder to tighten up my systems and catch up on anything that I'm behind on. It is a reminder that a lot can be accomplished in a short time.
This is also a visual representation of a promise I made to myself that this summer is about my kids and not about my business. Does it mean I won't work at all? Of course not. When you love your work it's really hard to stop completely. Does it mean I'll slow down and take on less? Let's hope. Will that mean I might miss out on some business? Probably. Am I going to be ok with that? π―

This is actually not an April Fool's joke, although it sure feels like one.
According to the Wall Street Journal there are more real estate professionals in the market than there are homes for sale. Umm, ok. NAR(the National Association of Realtors) is up to 1.45 million members in the US, which is a 4.8% increase over last year.
This stat stopped me in my tracks and I knew I wanted to share it, because WOW. But now I'm sitting here struggling to decide who I want to speak to and what I want to say about this.
So, to all my Realtor friends(especially the brand new ones), hang in there. You can make it through this. It's going to be tough and you might feel like finding a client and then winning the multiple offers game is hopeless. You may want to give up some days, but don't. Now is when our clients need us the most. Just like it feels like your career is hanging by a thread, so too are their dreams to buy a new home.
And to the sweet sellers who are afraid to list, we are here to listen to your concerns and help you find solutions. This may be the best time EVER to sell your home and we truly don't want you to miss it. And let's be honest, we really need a whole crap ton of you to be brave and put yourself out there, so we can get things back to normal.

Happy St. Patrick's Day from me & Murphy!! We are always up to shenanigans! ππ
Also, today is the perfect day to share a toast to Murphy from his fanclub president, ...
"I would like to toast to Murphy because just like no Monday is complete without my weekly dose of no day is complete without my dose of Murphy in my Instagram feed.
Plus it is March, and
Murphy is by far the most frequently found surname of Irish origin with well over 50,000 bearers of the name in Ireland alone. This name is derived from two distinct Gaelic septs. The first of these was O'Murchadha and the second was MacMurchadha. The name is taken from words that translate as 'sea warrior'. Murphy is only very occasionally rendered as O'Murphy or MacMurphy. Other variants of this widespread name include Murphey, Murfee, Morphy and O'Morchoe."
Sounds like this day was made for Murph! πππ
