Extraordinary Evan
Updates and prayer requests for Evan Holloway as he continues his journey toward healing. Evan Holloway is the son of Stewart and Rebecca Holloway.
Stewart is the pastor of First Baptist Church, Pineville, Louisiana. Evan was born with Down's Syndrome. When Evan was two, Stewart and Rebecca received the news that Evan also had epilepsy. So far, treatment has not worked to end his seizures. This page is to keep those interested up to date on his progress. So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)

and I only made it to one night of Vacation Bible School this week. 😕
That is hard for me as a pastor’s wife to accept. But that was the reality of the week.
These pictures from our vacation last week will show you why.
Evan has been sleeping the majority of the day for a while now. After many discussions with his P*P, we finally determined it was Evan’s seizure medication. He’s simply on too many medicines. But if you take away a medicine, the seizures could always come back with a vengeance. So it’s a hard decision - more seizures or more sleeping?
This week I finally consulted with Evan’s neurologist at Texas Children’s, and we did remove one medication. The first day was rough with two longer seizures, but since then, he has been better. We are praying it stays that way. 🙏🏼
As I told some friends this week, it is always something with him. Always dancing on the tightrope. Always waiting for the next shoe to drop. The mental load is exhausting. But without Jesus, I would have no hope! So we hold on tight to the Master and know that God’s got us!

For the first time in 17 years, we don’t have a car seat in our vehicle. has gotten big enough to be without it. Milestones come later and less frequently for us, and they are worth being celebrated. Or grieved. Or maybe just posted on social media so we remember them. Anyway, we’ll have some car seats lying around if anyone needs one! 🤣

Not the best picture. Not the best morning.🫠
I had to use my rudimentary nursing skills to fix bleeding around ’s g-tube this morning.
And then Evan had a seizure at therapy. 😞
Did I mention Stewart is out of town? 😩
Send prayers, Diet Coke, coffee, and chocolate. Mostly prayers. Those others are not good coping skills. 🤣🤣🤣

The internet describes "Nap trapped" as “the phenomenon where a parent or caregiver is unable to move because a baby or toddler is sleeping on them, often forcing them to remain in one spot for an extended period. This common occurrence can feel restrictive, limiting productivity and mobility.”
Not many mamas of 12 year olds get nap trapped.
One of the many blessings of is that I still do.
Grateful. 💙

“They’re still in there, aren’t they?”
had the worst seizure he has had in months tonight. I heard his helmet hit the floor all the way from the kitchen. It was a tonic clonic - a grand mal. I sat by him and watched my phone for the time. If we hit 5 minutes, I have to rescue him. He woke up about 30 seconds before then. I sighed in relief.
Evan has been doing GREAT. We have had seizure free days even. But tonight reminded me that the seizures are still there. I asked Evan that question as he sleepily closed his eyes. Yes, they are still there. So we remain on guard, ever watchful, ever prayerful. 🙏🏻
