Every year, the Attic Trash & Treasure sale is organized and held with thousands of volunteer hours contributed by both members and our local community. It’s inspiring to see these dedicated volunteers come together, transforming unwanted items into valuable treasures that directly benefit those around us.

This year’s sale, held in March, was a tremendous success. After all the hard work and generous in-kind donations, the proceeds were donated to five outstanding local non-profits, each receiving $53,000.00. The organizations supported include Baton Rouge Children's Advocacy Center, Brave Heart, Capital Area Family Justice Center, Louisiana Parole Project, and Louisiana Mental Health Coalition

For anyone interested in connecting with these impactful organizations or supporting their work further, here are their Facebook and Instagram addresses:

As students head off to college, parents are often prepping dorm rooms, tuition payments, and helping their kids navigate course schedules. But there's one crucial check list item that often gets overlooked: a Power of Attorney.

Once your child turns 18, you are no longer automatically allowed to check their finances, inquire about medical records, or even obtain their class schedule from their college without permission! While your grown-up student may not want you knowing every detail of their lives, a Power of Attorney functions in two important aspects:

✅ Health Care Power of Attorney – For medical decisions in an emergency
✅ Financial or General Power of Attorney – For banking, access to class schedules, and access to housing in an emergency

It’s a simple step that gives peace of mind when they’re away from home!
